I think that Rolling Quartz always have a reduced and transparent band arrangement, you can always follow the structures easily. I'm used to a somewhat thicker and busier kind of band arrrangement from many Japanese bands for example, but the Rolling Quartz style works very well live, because thick arrangements sometimes become a chaotic mush when played live, depending on the quality of the mix and the audio equipment, and that does not happen with a band like RQ who have a light and easy-to-follow arrangement. This is a band that I can really recommend if you get the chance to see them live, because they play with a lot of energy and can put on a great show as well, and Jayoung is a gifted singer who really delivers live.

I’ll have to agree about Rolling Quartz seeming to play it safe musically and not being anywhere near as heavy as the majority of the J-Metal bands. I think the little something they are missing is being live, they really shine live! I think they concentrate on putting on a perfect performance more than experimenting or jamming. This seems in line with K-pop work ethics and attitudes. It works as is, but I’d love to see them go a bit wild too, I think they have what it takes to just let rip and it’d be a thing to behold.

I was hoping the heavy start would have continued further as well. They obliviously can do it and they may someday give us one. Have you heard of Walking After U? They are a great Korean rock band too.
