Agreed re El Mocambo. I was also at Knebworth, and this and Route 66 were real highlights that night weren't they? Far too many years on, this performance is good, especially Charlie's crisp drumming and Mick Jagger's astonishingly youthful voice!

Yes, far too many years ago, my friend. I always love it when they do that Chuck Berry stuff, it's almost as if they were made for it. This must be the first time in years that they have played one. Regards.

no negative comments about The Stones 50th anniversary shows please! how cool is it that Mick, Keith, &Charlie are still doin' it together 5 decades later?!

It makes sense for them to play Around and Around during this 50th anniversary. It was an early hit for them. Back when they were boys. Picking up on another thread, of course the El Mocabo version sounds better. That version wasn't recorded with a telephone several hundred feet away from the stage and the speakers. Lots of energy in this version.

Awesome! Turn Ronnie up! Love the fact that they dusted this one off! If they keep it in the set it can only get better!

Nobody, but nobody, does Chuck Berry like the Stones do they? Apart from Keith being THE master of the art, I think it's Charlie's drumming that makes it. I wish they'd do a tour just playing the old rhythm & blues stuff...with Mick Taylor....now THAT I'd paid several hundred quid to see....

Yes, now you're talking! Wouldn't that be the bollocks!!! They could easily do 10-12 Chuck Berry songs plus "Cops and Robbers", "Down the Road Apiece", "Little Red Rooster" , "Route 66" and a couple of Muddy Waters songs. I'm dribbling!!!

Of course they sounded better in El Mocambo, it was a tiny little club, plus it was produced and fiddled with for the live LP. As for Knebworth, I'm not so sure. I was there and loved this and also Route 66, but this version is surprisingly good, don't you think?
