The Rolling Stones, Start it Up! Tattoo You Tour in Boulder! The first show was sold out, but I drove to Folsom Field anyway to buy a ticket to the second show, $13., then someone handed me a ticket through the fence, an extra he had for the first show, so I got to see them twice, both shows for only $13!, and now I get to hear that show over and over again.....thank you whomever recorded it!

I was at this show. I didn't have a ticket... we crawled under a fence.... jump the barrier onto the field and walked right to front center on the filed....I was 15. Front row center for the entire concert. George throw me his towel, the girls from Heart give me guitar picks and kisses .... then the Stones came out... I sure you can here me and my buddy Chris singing ... we sang every song as loud as we could with them.. Jagger several times came right up to us and stood right in front of us and several times... Keith came down and gave me a guitar pick .... he tossed it down and it landed right on the other side of the fence they had right in front of the stage.. I hopped over to get it and the guards tossed me back over and one of them saw the guitar pick on the ground.. no lie, he picked it up and put in in his pocket.. well the band saw that and Keith made the guy give it back to me and every one around us went crazy nuts, jumping up and down and singing.. I will never forget that day,,,, the crowd was pushing so hard up against us, we were front row on the field and the force of the crowd was pushing us against the fence.... I thought I was going to die.... I was took my feet up and was held up by the force of the people against the fence.... the band saw that and helped by telling the people to get away from us... the guards made the people around us make a circle around us and we jammed out in our own little space for the rest of the concert..... George, Heart and the Rolling Stones all In one day... I will never forget this day........

We were also on the field. I passed out with the first few notes of the 1st Heart song. The crowd was so thick I never hit the ground, they just rotated me to the side, lol. I was fine by the time the Stones came on, killer show, great memories !!

Drove up from U of A in Tucson with 3 roommates. First time seeing the Stones and they didn't disappoint! Wanted to hear "Under My Thumb" and they opened with it! Also experienced the best view I've ever seen of the Milky Way somewhere in the desert between Tucson and Albuquerque and the Albq balloon festival both in the daytime (coming) and at night (going). A most memorable trip.

I was there delivering hamburger and hot dog buns to the stadium. The Stones had already started their set. I pull up to the main entrance in a 30 foot long Rainbo bread truck packed with buns, hop out and two very large security guards approach me and ask what I' doing. I said delivering buns. They said Oh yeah sure pal. We've seen this trick before. You're not getting in. Beat it. They finally called upstairs and got the OK then escorted me to a box seat area where all the Events staff were as if they'd captured someone sneaking in. While they were arranging payment for the bread, I was looking out over the scene listening to "Beast of Burden" and called a friend to say you won't believe where I am right now. A memorable experience.

In October 1981, Allen played three shows with the Rolling Stones: on October 1 at the Metro Centre, in Rockford, Illinois, and on October 3 and 4 at Folsom Field, in Boulder, Colorado. Allen was replaced by Ernie Watts for the remainder of the tour]]. [7]

Yep, I was there. The acoustics were unbearable when heart was on stage and they didnt have much stage presense. Then as soon as Mic landed (helicopter) the real show started and it was all straightened out by Mics sound guy within minutes. The Stones were great. He put on quite a show.

You are totally right about the sound. I was there. That was my first concert ever. I thought the Stones mailed it in but you are spot on about Heart and the acoustics. It was painful. Excellent accurate observation.

I attended Sat. with seats in the nosebleed section. I that what camping out for tickets was worth at Fayline! Sunday I tagged along with my buddies without a ticket. Some dude at the gate offered me an extra one for sale. Lots of scalpers out there. I said that I didn't have any cash, I was 14 I guess. He said "shows already started, I want to go in. Here,dude,you got a free ticket." I didn't care about John mellonhead so I just pushed my way up to the front of the stage. I was in the middle AND front stage- nobody in front of me except stage. I could literally count t the hairs on Mick's teeth! Best life experience ever!

Had a great time at the show some memorable moments were- Sunny nice day in boulder no place more beautiful!! Drove up from Ft Carson and had a lot of beer the night before >George thorogood rocked, Heart was next Ann wilson did a front kick on the front sloped ramp and almost fell backwards. The stones rocked MJ had his weird yellow football pants on toward the end of show he got up on the cherry picker over the audience throwing flowers out in front and started jumping up and down. Scared himself and everyone when it started bouncing too much. My friend next to me got sick and tossed all the beer we had been drinking and it flowed down the step seats and the hippy chicks walked through it barefoot and never noticed.

I was there... with a leg broken by a car that ripped me off my bike up in East Vail... that was Sept 21, two weeks prior to this show! Should'a seen me dancin' on crutches... the peeps in the row before us were nice enough to squeeze away, so I could lay down two pillows to prop up my ankle... what a rage!!!

I was there too. I was between the ages of RMMCDenver and AlaskaSports.TV, lol. My first Stones show of many and we drove 1000 miles to be there. Listening to it now it seems the boys are coked out of their minds. They're pushing the tempo a little too much and not quite together. Mick sounds hoarse. But we were ecstatic at the time.

Stones haven't impressed you live? Come on, Stones have been the best live act of all times when you take their prime period 1969-1981. Stones are famous for their "Live" not for their "Studio". Come on - everybody agrees with that. Just need to listen to their 1973 Brussels concert. If that doesn't blow your mind, I don't know what does.
@josephgurzynski1053

Not great musicians, but I understand your point. They make more mistakes than most bar bands, but I still like them. 1972-73 best live period. Check out 73 Billy Preston concert with Mick Taylor when you can.

I am still pissed at the band. I have numerous magazines from after the tour where they are quoted as saying this was one of the best, if not the best, show of the tour (although I can't say it beat Hampton Virginia)....BUT they have not released anything from the Boulder shows. Too bad. I was there for both and they rocked. I would say this is the show where they "put it all together" and the rest of tour went tickety-boo from here.
@acousticshadow4032

Indeed, hard to believe anything from this tour topped the Hampton VA shows.
@thedyslexic9936

@@acousticshadow4032 Yes. Hampton for Keith's birthday and the end of the North American leg was fantastic. I am just quoting what the band said after the tour...yet they have not released anything from Boulder. I am thinking they had most if not all of their film equipment heading to Phoenix to make Let's Spend the Night Together.

My knowledge of the Stones is mid-level. As a fan of jam bands, I was curious about the Stones live. Only saw them once bout 20 years ago in Atlantic City - didn't love it. They might be the greatest all time in terms of studio output. These vids give me a better sense of their live legacy. I'm not so impressed. They play the same set list the whole year. What a waste for a band with soo many great tunes. Jamming is good but limited. Again, a waste for such great guitarists.

Tight, structured, rehearsed set lists beat sloppy, rambling, hippie jams everytime. You're "not so impressed" by the Stones live, then go listen to Phish or some other equally boring shit that seems to impress you.
