Considering the country of residence, your fortunate to have such a broad date range. For example I live on Vancouver Island in British Columbia where oneself would be considered lucky just to find a relic which dates from before the 1870s.

Huge fan of William Wyon's work with the Gothic Florin. One of the most beautiful coins of all time. The date is roman numerals ... mdccclxxxiii on that one... 1883.

Hi John! What a brilliant day's hunt! I thought I knew all most all my kings and queens, but never knew Anne was on the throne or that Sofia got struck by lightning! Could've been us here in Valencia yesterday, with the floods we had and the constant thunderstorm that lasted over 36 hours! (Been here 22 years n never, ever seen the like!) Anyway, thanks again for another brilliant history lesson, from Pete's owl, to your amazing Florins! See you on the next ! Much love to you n all the gang from Chez in Lliria Valencia Spain 😘😘

Great finds guys! Just my opinion but the owl may be part of a portable roman shrine or celtic pocket talisman~ wise decisions, business endeavors. And the lead looks like something used to secure medieval window like a church. Anywho~ very nice!

The Gothic florin was the most beautiful coin ever produced for mass circulation. The date is in Roman numerals on the obverse. I'm a coin collector & love them. It was also the first attempt to introduce decimalization of our currency. It also known as the godless florin.

Standard gothic florins were slightly larger than normal florins. "Godless florins" are sliightly smaller than normal florins in diameter and have the "D.G" missing - hence godless. Also the godless florins have the date in standard numbers rather than roman numerals.

It was a hour long, but so action packed with finds after finds. Oh and I got about 3 garnets from Simon. They are my birthstone. I took them and a couple of rings I had laying around and had a jeweler make a ring and pendant from them. They are beautiful.
