After years of people poking fun at the 23-minute intro, I was dreading this first episode... but revisiting it here was a nice reminder of how genuinely funny the game's dialogue is and why it's my favourite of the big three. Not to mention Frede's rocking rendition of the SQ3 theme over the credits. Oh, and sorry for how drunk the character sprites look. Thank you for putting up with my half-baked vector art.
I had forgotten how funny the dialogue was, too. I remember it made me chuckle when I first played it, but it is really *genuinely* funny. And the drunk character sprites just make it all that much better. ;) (No, seriously, apart from Bea's weird cackling mouth in the pie diner, the character art still looks great!)
I remember playing this in the spring and summer of 2012, and also the begining of 2013. Then I played Incinerations in the summer of 2013, and then I played SQ2 VGA in the summer of 2014. I loved them all!
Indeed! It's a very elegant yet under-rated series to be a fan of. And I'm proud to be a fan of it. I've been one since 1995. My first SQ games were SQ4 and SQ5, with SQ5 definitely being my favourite because it reminded me of Star Trek.
Being slightly more aware of the royal kind of quest, I was never aware about the wealth of fan games that exists for SQ. This one looks surprisingly good. Really love the writing and choice of subject matter in regards to Roger and Bea.
Oh man, it was an honor to beta test this game! It's a shame that the talkie version never panned out, but it's an awesome feeling to be a part of the team of the 'big three' [never got to beta SQ2VGA :(] - Artificial Llama (I think I recorded for the clerk too...)
Oh man. Just saw where that hack job who cobbled together the travesty of Space Quest 4.5 got the interior of the mallard. Does Engel have no shame? PS: You are smashing the videos. Just finished your KQ play throughs, pumped for Mask Of Eternity. Your commemtary is on par with Yahtzee, if not better. If English isn't your first language, it's really hard to tell.
The intro was long, but it was quite amusing. Love the small visual gags and references (Simpsons refrence in the missile control room with the Sector 7G sign, for example). Never played any of these fan games, so I am ready!
Martin deMontfort, who did our backgrounds, crammed so many visual references into his work. Most of which weren't even requested by those of us who wrote the script. So most of the visual references are only in there because, well... they had already been drawn!
Well I have played it and he says the exact same thing at times during gameplay when he takes control of his underlings, and ME2 also came out a year before VSB so it's quite possible.
"I'm not even supposed to be here today" is a line from the [original] movie: Clerks You didn't comment about it at all. If you haven't watched the series yet I bet you would get a kick out of
I liked this game overall. Not as much as Incinerations or Decision of the Elders, but it's still a well-designed game. I was actually going to be in the voice cast of the talkie version if it ever was to be released, but sadly, it seems that is not going to ever happen. Oh well. Still, I'm looking forward to seeing you play this game!
I really want to make a SQ fangame sort of a time hopping dating sim with inventory puzzles and stats were Roger flirts with Bea, Stellar and Zhondra. Maybe For Android...
