Well, socialism and communism requires printing lots of valueless money, and using force to stop people from choosing where to spend their money and what on, where to invest, and where to work. That’s not how it works. Inflation going down is just saying things increasing at a slower rate. A 2% inflation rate means things go up by 2%. You talking about deflation, when prices go down.

Yes that is correct. But to say that the inflation was transitory due to supply shocks, was to imply that when supply chain issues were fixed, the prices would return. That has not happened, because the inflation was indeed not transitory.

So once the supply chain was fixed, inflation should drop back down to the 2% fed’s goal. Prices would still be at the elevated, because they didn’t deflate.

If the dollars are worth %20 less, they get %20 more of them for the same item. The "record profits" babbling would make sense only if their dollars still retained the value they originally had. All of the costs went up by the same amount. Whether the bakery gets one dollar or five dollars, the value is still just one loaf of bread. Those doing the baking, the ovens themselves, the electricity, and packaging or transport of the bread are all 5 times higher at the same time. The "profits" are higher numerically but still the same percentage.
