I agree about the ending, but in my opinion it is still the best in history. Don't forget that he played in a time when the defenders were killers and tried to break your legs, and he still proved that his skills outweighed them and wasted a lot. Watching him gives me chills down to my spine. He had no weakness, dribbles effortlessly, goes through the defense, and they all fall like a pack of cards. An attacker that embodies his role through and through. Makes sense while he was injured frequently, he made the best of them look like amateur, as he glides past. Imagine the embarrassment they had to face. He’s incredibly talented and a thorough professional. someone said “they had to injure him, just to keep up with him”. In my opinion there’s no better player. He’s the best of the bests(El phenomenon).

As someone old enough to actually witness his games(on tv of course) yes that was true, many teams actually would rather take the red card and take Ronaldo out of the game and for the longer the better. In my opinion he was the goat of football, a rare talent that shows up very rarely.

Didn't called The Phenomenon for nothing... He had the pace, speed, strength, movement, creative dribble without thinking, deadly finishing... R9 was a beast so great that unfortunately got nerf by injuries so others can catch up with him... This guy played against some seriously tough defenders like maldini, nesta, thuram, desailly, stam, puyol, etc and still got to smoke'em all... Not to mention he played in Italy when Italy is the best league in the world with so many amazing and tough defenders at that time... Sadly the media social didn't exist widely back then for the hype, but mostly football's fans back then knew R9, especially with his iconic hair cut at WC 2002 😂

he was the best ever, best technique, moves that nobody did before, fast as ferrari, able to score with both legs and head, and i remember once he scored with a shoulder or chest, he didnt need to know what will happen because based on situation he made a brand new move that thrilled everybody in the stands and those watching it on the tv, never simulated, never filmed a foul, was strong enough, i really dont know why everybody always writes before injuries and after injuries and this shits. just look how he played after injuries in WC2002 and real madrid. it makes no sense to divide the career, for me he absolutely has been the best football player ever to play football. even pele or maradona or others were not that good. not able to make special moves he did and etc... Amen

Yes, getting defeated 7:1 on the semi-final, in the biggest tournament on the planet in their home ground being the greatest footballing nation itself, nothing can be more humiliating than that loss. I was so mad watching that on TV, we friends, family, neighbours were watching that together, in the night. Most were supporting Germany since they were like no neymar, so brasil will lose easily and I was among the few strongly supporting Brazil. Everyone trolled me after that. I didn't go to school for a week, I quarantined myself in my home.

Why are there not other players from the past who could be often compared to Messi or Cristiano in the present? @@user-em5en1nm7d y muchos que no. Pero a varios no les entra en la cabeza que messi es por escándalo mejor que cristiano. Y se piensan que messi tiene el mismo nivel y en base a eso comparan. Cuando el mismo messi en regate está muy por encima de los 2.

The greatest player who ever played football, too bad he never won Champions league ☹ so sad because if he wasn't so badly injured he would won at least 3 of them with Inter, they were on paper the best team in Europe at that time and everyone thought they are the next champions, they even bought Christian Vieri for a record breaking €40 milion in summer 1999

I actually think that R9 was injured for most of, if not all of the matches where his team got eliminated from the UCL, at least in his prime anyway. Maybe he played one or two in his later years when he was already passed his best. I say this to say that if he wasn’t injured, he’d probably have at least 1UCL trophy…doesn’t matter tho, every player would trade all their UCL glory to achieve what he did in the World Cup

@@FootballazzEven in those 2 champions leagues with Real Madrid that they made the semi finals, he was injured the for the fixture. He did play the 2006 semi finals.

I get why Messi and Cristiano will always be considered much higher in the all time greatest debate, and have to appreciate what they've done for such a long period...But still if I had to pick the peak of any player and put them together in a time machine, to the eye Ronaldo Nazario just seems to be in a tier of his own..A touch above all others

Idk where you’re getting this “much higher” thing from…a lot of people have R9 as their goat. Messi and CR7 have had longer careers, but any one that has seen all 3 play knows R9 at his peak was a better pure talent than both. Without injuries, there probably wouldn’t be a debate tbh.

@@SARYM911 well recency bias will always kick in and the significance of history will always be undermined by the new generation. That’s just life…the stats mafia can’t even realize that it’s been way easier for everyone to score tons of goals the last 10 years or so, it wasn’t just CR7 and Messi. Yes they were the best so they did it more than their peers, but it is a different game than it was in the 90s and early 00s where scoring was more difficult

@@MA-go7ee hahaha not really…all the things Messi can do, most of the top tier footballers can do them. Messi just does it more frequently than everyone else. There are things Ronaldo did with the ball that Messi has never done
