Rondout Railfanning

It’s been a while since our production team has made a trip out trackside at Rondout. So we decided it was time to make a visit for the day. We arrived during the morning rush hour to see what can we expect for what’s coming later in the day as far as Metra power is concerned as well as what was on the Amtrak Hiawatha trains. So we didn’t start filming till the end of rush hour around 8am. While we were there, the weather wasn’t too hot or too cold. It was just right. However, we ran into a few problems in the morning as one of our battery packs were having some problems as well our cameras were somehow not fully charged. So we tried our best to save as much battery as we can. Throughout the day, the freight trains were a bit slow for some odd reason. But at least we still caught trains. Towards the end of the day, it was getting really challenging when Amtrak Empire Builder 7 came through. As a result, we had to call it a day after Empire Builder 7 passed just because we were running very low on battery power. Overall, it was a good day out trackside. Coming up is our trip to Rochelle Railroad Park on the Union Pacific Geneva Subdivision and the BNSF Aurora Subdivision. Enjoy this video presentation from Rondout!
