Once served Ronnie Corbett when I was a waiter. "What dishes do you do?" he asked me. "Well," I said. "We do mini meals..." Later on I asked for a tip, he said "let me do the jokes next time".
To be forever remembered and to make people laugh even after you are dead - says so much of Ronnie Corbett. Till today, he lives on and makes people smile and laugh. This is the character and personality of a great comedian and an even greater human being They don't make them like this any more - your fan forever, kind sir and thanks for making me laugh and continuing to make the world laugh with your wit and humour. You have spread so much happiness - Rest in Peace and I hope your blessed family always remain happy and laughing always.
Coming back here after hearing Parky passed away. RIP Michael Parkinson and to both Ronnies. We are little by little being deprived of so much impeccable timeless talent.
Yeah, I worked with a guy a while ago who met him quite often as they played golf at the same course, and he said Corbett was a lovely guy. The only thing about him I can find to criticise is that he was an enthusiastic Tory and somewhat fond of Margaret Thatcher, but you can't have everything.
Yep, another one born in 1974 here. They were really good - at the top of their game for years and able to appeal to a wide audience. I think they successfully bridged the gap between more traditional double acts (Morecambe and Wise etc) and the more avant garde alternative comedy that came along in the early 80s. A lot of Two Ronnies sketches were really clever and quite subversive.
Me too, also a Gen-Xer born in 1974. Both the Ronnies were part of my comedy staple growing up. Loved Ronnie Corbett in Sorry! and Ronnie Barker in Porridge, Going Straight and Open All Hours; however, the Two Ronnies together were a legendary dynamite duo!! Rediscovered the comedy genius of both of them for great laughs during the covid years when we were on lockdown. Vintage British comedy at its best!! Miss them both.
