"Ronnie Hawkins & The Hawks". Port Dover Ontario, 1958 their first summer at "Pop" Ivey's SUMMER GARDENS, too young to get in, I listened outside that wooden building. Changed my life. Thank you Ronnie!
I met up with Ronnie and Levon in the late 50's at the Coq d'Or in Toronto.....we had a great time listening to them. Even have an autographed 45 with the 4 original Hawks.
He was the foundation of "The Band. A True Artist., a great lyricist. He can't be beaten! He is a vocal powerhouse. I dare say. I dare any operatic artist to challenge him. He puts on a better show.Plus he's the KING of B Bop and boogie wooogie! It would be an honor to have him iN my home! Genius! Nobody better!!! He rocks the sou in any generation. My boyfriend helped finance the Arts Commission,in Bloomington, Indiana. There is a theatre named after his family. I know a.bunch of musicians able to back him up in Bloomington, Indiana. It's a very liberal town. I will contribute to his coming here. I would do anything to see him perform Days Gone By. IF.., he would perform with Bloomington natives, instead of using out-of-towners, I would donate money. I swear on the Bible. There is something called this Lotus Festival, where nobody from Bloomington, Indiana is allowed to play. It is reverse racism. This IS political! They call it "World Mysic Festival." We have many fantastic musicians who were born in Bloomington, I swear, we have some of the best musicians. I lived in Nashville, TN, born in 1953. I would give anything to see him here. I will help finance, not if Bloomington born musicians are used. I promise you the best musisicians. These folks can play anything. I will guarantee it, I swear, I can get it done!!!!
