You see how the balls hit the corner jaws and still go in, shots that would never go in on a snooker table. These pool players are talented, but they'll never be able to play snooker
why does pocket size matter when both players are shooting on the same table same pockets, 8 ball is tough game it really matters who breaks better and who can move around the table better.
0:59 shows why pool is the kiddie equivalent of snooker. Its like riding a bicycle with stabilizers on. That pot would be no where near going in on a snooker table. It wouldn't even have rattled the jaws.
The pool player will have the advantage of being better at breaks. But, this shows how good snooker players are that they can compete with the best in another cue sport without much practice.
For those that don’t know the history, let me break it down a bit for ya. During this time, Ronnie was at a low with snooker and just in general. He suffers from depression. With the current feats from Ronnie already in Snooker, he decided that he would give pool a shot because he felt it would be easy picking since Snooker, in its own right is much harder than pool. Ronnie took light of pool and had many losses because of that mentality. Ronnie was in and out of Snooker. He took seasons on and off frequently due to his mental stability. For those saying Archer couldn’t handle Ronnie on a snooker table, you’re absolutely correct, but the difference is Archer isn’t claiming he’d sweep snooker players at their own game. Ronnie literally thought he would dominate pool. Archer is playing what he’s always played...don’t confuse the two. Ronnie is literally the best player in today’s snooker and continuing to make records, break records, and entertain. (Shout out to his most recent World Cup win) we’re talking the real Rocket, not Rodney Harris.
You make a lot of claims and assumptions with no substance. You started well, but degenerated. For example, he did not take seasons off frequently. He took one season off in the last 30 and that was well after this period.
Breaks should be alternate regardless of who won the last frame. It shouldn't be possible for someone win a match without their opponent even taking a shot.
Johnny Archer may have won but they are playing 8 ball on a 9 ball table I think I would fancy my chances he would get hammered by O'Sullivan at 9 ball abut definitely at Snooker
@@marksmith1916 I think your wrong. I'd lay a bet that the top pool players can adjust to snooker very well. A guy like archer give him a years practice on a snooker table and he'd be a hell of a player
@TheAuthorIsNotDead how'd oSullivan do on the 9 ball tour....you don't get it. If they committed to it they'd do just fine...either way. Cue sports is cuesports snooker guys got a complex about thinking their game is the only game. Besides most snooker games balls made are on the foot half of the table. What's that a 6x6 square. I've played snooker. Making balls is no problem. Its the strategy when u can't run out. The end game of the rack is easy. Its the beginning and middle that messes pool players up
ronnie puts up a good fight against top level pros for a game he doesnt even bother playing...get any top pool pro on the snooker table and see what happens hahahah!
@@TheJohnCooperShow I've seen a video of Eklent Kaci making a total clearance in snooker and I think Jayson Shaw is decent at snooker too. But competing would be a whole different thing, it's not only about making breaks, you have to able to pot the long balls, play good safety, get the pack open etc.
@@ernoeskeli1139 well Kaci is a snooker player and Shaw is Scottish so snooker is in his DNA. Could clarify saying no American pool player would stand a snowballs chance in hell against the Rocket on a snooker table. I think the best way to compare the two players is to put a pro American player against pro snooker player on a billiard table and have them play some three cushion.
@@jrw0707 I'm in no way disagreeing with the initial comment, just pointing out there are a handful of pro pool players who can play snooker as well 👍🏻 Pool players would most likely suck at three cushion, you're right about that. Snooker players would excel at three cushion as well because similar shots are a big part of snooker

@@paulo586Ronnie did a couple practice games before meeting Johnny archer again in 2017 and still lost even tho archer got older and can’t keep still and Ronnie got better I just love coming here cause both of them are my favorite players I use a scorpion cue Archer edition and elk master tips cause of Ronnie

I knew all along that snooker fanboys will invade this video and complaining about the pocket size of the pool table. Can you just admit that pool and snooker are completely different game. Balls are bigger. Also, the weight of the balls are heavy and many more. Could you just watch the video and see how two players with different cue sport discipline enjoying the game of pool.
@@julesmo323 breaking and controlling the white ball is another skill itself. These players just doesn't whack the balls, they calculate where to hit the cue ball while they drive their cues at 20+ mph.
@@PatduDMD I understand it is a exact science and a bit of art for that shot, but it seems to me, one single component of the game completely over whelms the other parts of billiards.
Its not that pool isnt a good game,its just that american pockets are fucking huge its ridiculous.You can play pool with around 4 inch pockets too,thats around where i play at.And its close to snooker size,and u need to be precise. Thats the point of the game.Whats the point of playing pool with such big pockets that any amateur could clear up 1 in some times,there is no difference between pros with these pockets as no one misses .

Yeah, totally agree. Would have been interesting on an English pool table with smaller pockets as I think Ronnie only missed one of his actual shots when he tried a plant. The break is obviously massive in American pool as it's hard for a good player to miss with those pockets.
Snooker guys get so buttsore. They are different games. Americans don't play snooker...there are very few snooker tables over here. And if you think pool players can't adjust to snooker think again. We generally just don't play it because it's not an option over here. Pool players understand banks, combinations, caroms, jumpshots, hard break, masse, cheating the pockets and extreme english better in my opinion. Little nuances that snooker players don't face as much because of the style of the game. Snooker players have better cueing form and can pot balls better.

American pool players would need to seriously adjust or retrain their cue action, put in hours and hours of practice all day, every day and fundamentals to even think of competing at Snooker, it's that hard to get consistent at - having talent and a good eye would not be near enough, even for the likes of Reyes, Strickland and Archer in their prime.
So your telling me someone like Steven Hendry would dog walk someone like Jason shaw in a 10 ball game on a 10 foot table race to 25. Because american players just can't hit anything. Hell snooker players are so good according to you guys they should easily be able to do an 600 ball run in 14-1

It all starts from strong opening shot which is not in Ronnie routine where as pool player regularly opens the chap like this this is the only difference otherwise Ronnie can beat him with his left hand...
Yeah Ronnie would need to spend a bit of time on his break, jump and bank shots and he would no question be a top pool player and I've no doubt he'd be able to master those shots.

Snookertards don't realize that the balls in pool are also bigger, pretty much negating the bigger pocket. The only significant difference is the table size.
The pockets are like buckets. The ball hits halfway down the cushion and went in! Snooker just a fraction out and hit part the corner of the pockets and the ball wobbles out.

He would be no competition. Pool is much easier than snooker. Snooker plays just lack pattern play (to an extent) and the break. They generally shoot straighter, think a lot more further and can rely on shot making ability for most situations.

Ronnie missed 1 ball. 1 ball in this entire match! Strickland is right - pool is too easy, too much dependent on luck. It shouldn't come down to who has the best break - it should come down to multiple facets - tactics, technique, guile, safety etc. Not just break off and then potting balls in to buckets.
