@welpbuddy4417 you don't dominate the sport of boxing for 16 years from 154 lbs to 200 lbs with just athletic ability. Ask Zab Judah. Roy problem was he was used to being athletic on top of having the skills. He was used to not having to use the fundamentals. Floyd stuck to the fundamentals because athletic ability leaves
It's funny, Floyd has Pernell as the Greatest fighter under him of course and he mentioned in one interview about how he got the best of Frankie Randall in sparring but in the same interview the interviewer asked him about Pernell and he said well we don't talk about sparring sessions because that's private
@@jeremytaylor988 I heavily doubt Duran Even Lands a jab on Floyd. It'll be like Leonard vs Duran 2 and 3 and as for Whittiker I would give it to Whittiker by decision. Also Floyd had Whittiker second behind him and Larry Holmes 3rd
That’s not what Floyd said 😂😂😂😂 the interviewer said I heard you got the best of him Floyd said it was good work I’m not going to talk bad about a champion
Pernell was a more slicker fighter with matrix like moves and Pernell didn't waste a lot of energy doing what he did, instead he made his opponents waste a lot of energy when they couldn't connect. Pernell was naturally more agile in the pocket than Floyd as well.
Question: How does Prime Pernell beat Prime Floyd when Coach Ronnie Shields just said they sparred before Floyd turned Pro, and Floyd gave him good work the 2nd rd.... So what does a Prime Floyd do against Pernell?? That sparring match sounded like it was close but more in Pernell's favour, with the experience that comes by the time Mayweather hit his prime, thats a whole nother spectrum.
Pernell was past peak prime in 96..and he said 2 rd floyd held his own 3rd rd per ell had floyd missing and was countering him..you know pernell was playing those 3 rds. Real fight prime.for prime.pernell wins
@pat mckinzie nope one thing about pernell is he gets super low to where floyd can't touch him and he scrap really well and also he's a great south paw his science is superb and way more skilled floyd is great but pernell already had the science down before floyd came
@@Tonyconstanza funny how Floyd is never past his prime 🤣🤣. Floyd was the same age Pernell was “past his prime” and still whooping ass. He was Oscar’s age and still whoopin ass.
People often forget Floyd was Pretty Boy also and not Money Mayweather all his career. I think a Pretty Boy floyd who whooped Gatti’s ass would beat Pernell in a huge margin.
At lightweight, Pernell Whitaker easily beats Floyd. At Welterweight, it's a razor close fight. People say Floyd's defense was better than Pernell Whitaker and I laugh. Here's why: Floyd had the shoulder roll, but he wasn't as elusive in the pocket. He made you miss by backing up. Whitaker was like Barry Sanders, Gale Sayers or Lamar Jackson running a football and eluding tacklers. Innate and like poetry that, his defense was so special that you couldn't train for his reflexes. Both fighters were very accurate when counterpunching, and at Welterweight they both had stinging pop as opposed to knockout power. Mayweather sat down on his punches more, so he gets the edge there, but Whitaker was slicker.
Whitaker was not slicker, he just wasted more energy, and that made him more predictable. You never knew if Floyd was gonna pull back, catch, duck under, or smother. And three of those came with counters. Ronnie just told you a 17 year old Floyd made Pea work a 24 year old Floyd outclasses him.
@@dontatme__ pernell Whitaker was much more slicker plus his defense was awkward, flashy, unorthodox, and tricky than floyd whose defense styles was fundamentals but not that very flashy or awkward like sweet pea like I mentioned you know it is very hard to emulate Whitaker defense because the way that his body and his feet moves where very awkward and unorthodox but to Floyd his defense was not that hard to emulate compared to Whitaker but for me you know I think maybe Pernell can beat Floyd or Floyd maybe can beat pernell I don't know both are my favorite boxers and but you know if Floyd figures out Pernell then he will win if not then he will lose
@@hansarabos1426 Pea wasted alot of movement. Doesn't make a difference if I make em miss by a mile or an inch, missing is missing. But if u make him miss by an inch u can easily counter
