Underground really a great expansion with the new maps and both the new factions. Please try the artisan and exile deck! It’s really great to play with! 👍🏻 more root more root❤️❤️
Not yet, but definitely on my list now! Y'all are so positive and it's a joy to see you enjoy the game! I'm glad you want to try the Riverfolk too. Hope you can find the expansion at your LFGS or online!
I love seeing you guys play! ❤️ Just a few corrections: - At 5:45 Naveen says Raid doesn't trigger when removed face down but it does. Only via exposure (guessing) it doesn't. This allows Naveen to not be so afraid of having plots attacked ;) - The moles should have started with 2 additional warriors in every adjacent clearing and NOT in the burrow. That's why Monique has difficulty swaying ministers at the start of the game ;) - At 38:51 Naveen should have removed warrior to plot. - At 47:15 Naveen should have scored 3 points for flipping plot. Btw if you play with Electric Eyrie next video it has a bug that was corrected. Check for updated rules at Leder Games website and/or correcting sticker at BGG.
Oh man, so many great catches César! Thank you for letting us know, we really appreciate that. We've been playing the Raid tokens wrong for so long... I totally forgot to remove that warrior, and I totally didn't take my points haha. Thanks for the heads up with the Eyrie, we will be sure to take a look at the errata. Thanks for supporting us on our Root journey! =)
1:13:50 Royal Claim (the card Monique doesn't craft) requires any four crafting pieces, which for the moles means buildings. It doesn't matter if some of them share a clearing
Great video! I really liked how you house ruled the bot's interaction with the Corvid's tokens. The bot catching that bomb was a thing of beauty. And... The Year of Naveen continues!
I really loved playing as the Corvids when I've played in a 5p game. I enjoyed seeing how it plays a little differently with the 2p+bot game. Great job!!
A minor correction, you can actually attempt to guess plots at *any* time on your turn, even during birdsong or daylight (source: rule 13.2.4), as long as it's before you draw cards in evening.
Great video! One correction is that when the Duchy builds any of their buildings, whichever card suit they reveal, the building must be placed in a clearing that they rule that matches the suit of the card. Didn’t see this called out in the subtitles so I hope this helps, and I’m excited for more of these playthroughs!
@@theSolemnBard Gotcha that makes sense! Most of the time Monique had the matching clearing anyways so it wouldn’t have mattered, but just wanted to clarify if anyone was confused :)
This playthrough was exciting! :) i love these Root episodes, the game is so unique and engaging! By the way, I bought the game and all of the expansions, inspired by these playthroughs, I don’t regret it for a second. I also backed the Marauder expansion (and the related Clockwork extension), which will make this brilliant game even better. Looking forward to more, if you feel like playing it a bit further :)
Also went all in as well, as the publisher even had a sale on Underworld bundle ! Looking forward to playing it :) Thx M and N for the playtrough, these Root videos are great !
Can we say that the Covids "hatch" plots... Another Root video by your great channel! Still enjoying this relatively new to me game. Playing lots of challenges on the app. The Exiles and Partisans deck is an inexpensive way to add variety to the game, tried it once and it was cool Both earlier expansions look great, but we're eyeing the Marauder, esp. with 2 player enhancement as you say. Hirelings! Why not just use the game die instead of D6? 0-1 and 2-3? Still 50-50 chance
In addition to the prototype rules from the Clockwork Expansion designer on Board Game Geek, we're adding a similar exposure house rule with 1 D8. Roll 1 to 4 - guess that plot. Roll 5 or higher = no guess. Similar but fewer dice rolls.
Once again you guys make an amazing video & play through. I can't wait for the next one. If you've not yet found a copy of the Riverfolk expansion, I'd be happy to let you borrow mine. I've also got the Vagabond pack and the Exiles and Partisans deck I could lend as well.
Jason, that is extremely nice of you to offer! Fortunatley, we just heard back from Leder Games and they will be sending us both the Riverfolk expansion and Exiles & Partisans deck! We are excited!!
This is Naveen's year! Ahhh we love watching you guys play Root. We've just bought the base game second hand from our local board game forum and are picking up the Clockwork Expansion second hand tomorrow too! Can't wait to give it a play. Would love to see the Riverfolk Expansion if you can get your hands on it and a review of your favourite expansions, favourite factions, etc. What a great game! Looking forward to the co-op video next week. Thanks guys!
Great video guys! Are you guys planning on doing some gameplay of the marauders expansions. I saw Leder Games had some prototypes available for playtesting! Would love to see you guys play!
Great job! Love your vids, especially the root ones. I think you should've started with more moles. Two more in each adjacent clearing from your start location.
Will y'all do a video at some point with the Lizards and Otters? Maybe that's down to a vote, I'm not sure, just wanted to see a playthrough of that. Great video!
There's one thing I caught... I am fairly certain that round tokens do not count towards ruling a clearing... (sympathy, tunnels, wood, plots) so monique didn't really rule the left fox clearing at 28:03... didn't catch that mistake in your other playthroughs... didn't really matter after all :D just so u know... but hey... u played it right after so... wp i guess :D
I wondered about how the bot would interact with the Corvid's tokens and from this game I feel it's a decent aproximation. After all, using the cats as a bot is an aproximation as well - it populates the board best, and has enough presence and power to provide a balance for the human players. It's pretty cool. I think I'll have to get the bots expansion to make my Root playable - so far only the cats and Eyrie work together at two.
I need to try the 2 players with a bot thing. I don't have the original clockwork expansion, but I've got the second one coming with the Marauder's expansion now!
The bots for the factions in the base game are available for PnP. Just print them and laminate them. You should already have the components required if you have the base game. The clearing priority token is just a bunch of tokens numbered 1 to 12.
Yay grand playthrough! It's good to see these again - I don't have much interest in the "taster" videos on upcoming games. I did get the clockwork expansion and the app as I couldn't face the clockwork expansion solo so thanks for that :)
Great run-through. Some things I didn't know about the Mechanial Marquis. I'm guessing if there isn't a clearing with enemy pieces, they don't move. Is that right? As far as favorite factions? All of them are fun and interesting. This expansion definitely duchy Riverfolk - Lizard cult. Base game - Vagabond
Late to the party, but the game is so fun and it would be great to see the riverfolk expansion, perhaps even a joint playthrough with Quackalope since they love the game. Of course when the new expansion comes out please play that too. You two rock.
For the underworld I like the Corvids to keep everyone guessing. Unfortunately, I don't get it to the table competitively and mostly play solo with the Clockwork Expansion. Moles are fun for mostly just revealing cards for actions.
Any chance you can do another Root video? 😻 Possibly with friends for a 4-player game? 😻 The best 4-player games typically happen when there are two military factions (Marquise/Eyrie/Duchy), a Vagabond to open ruins, and an insurgency faction (Woodland/Corvid/Riverfolk/Lizard). This is the configuration that's presented in the main game, and it works so well! 😍
Im Brazil its only available the base game and the Riverfolk expansion, in the moment that this expansion arrives here, im gonna be the first one in the line to buy it!
I’m just starting to learn this game, so maybe I’m mistaken or there is something with the Corvid’s movement that I missed. But isn’t there a rule with movement that only lets you move from and/or to a clearing you control? For example, at 31:53 Naveen moved from clearing 7 (which he didn’t control) to clearing 6 (which he didn’t control). Thanks for clarifying if you can, as I’m worried about teaching this game to friends and making mistakes that unbalance the play for them. 😊
To whoever is going to play as Marquise!! Playing and winning as Marquise won’t be easy. Some strategic tips from the last game I won as Marquise: 1. Used overworking wisely 2. Used extra actions with bird cards 3. Kept the ambush cards ready 4. Consolidated armies in few clearings 5. Used wood to protect buildings 6. Used field hospital wisely 7. Focused on King of the hill 8. Focused on clearing paths
I love to play the Lizards! It is a different challenge each time and not easy to win with. I like to place warriors in annoying places for other factions so they battle and give me Acolytes!
@@riChchestMat thank you for letting me know! I really want to play the otters, but 2 player with bots limits me. Maybe I will download it and try it out.
Do you need a spacial expansion to use the bot? Or does it come with the base game? Haven't had anyone to play with and really wanna get my bf into this!
I don't have ROOT!! T.T I can't decide whether to take dive and add it to the collection but then I have to get all these add-ons... aieee... and now another kickstarter. /wrists
@@gyllgaming I downloaded it last night and am going through the tutorial. So far it makes me want the full board game even more! Learning the birds right now... tricky stuff. Also it's pretty tight on a phone. Need to break out the tablet, I guess. 😅
