I have a pretty good idea of how this type of system works because I've used them for decades. With that said, watching this video I thought as a basic explanation of how these works, pretty dang good. Nicely done.

Thats good to hear. Glad our basics hit the spot. I will probably make one more advanced in the future with port nozzles and tuning from EGTs.

I've seen people use an EFI ECU to control and run their Mechanical Fuel Injection set ups and they say as long as you know what you're doing it can be alot easier than trying to control your Mechanical Fuel Injection by itself

We would run EFI if we were allowed. Nostalgia racing doesn't allow computer controlled injection. Your right, EFI would be a better option for performance and tunability.

I'm sure you have figured this out since the video came out a little while ago but on a normal pass in the shutdown you usually want to allow the engine speed to come down so the fuel pressure isn't too high, shut the fuel valve then kill the ignition as the motor leans out a little. This will keep the rings from washing, milking up the oil, swamping the plugs with fuel and worst case hydrolocking. In an emergency flip all the levers and switches as fast as possible haha. Mechanical injection is fun and challenging with all the different lean out/bypass options and jetting. Good luck!

Good points. We have been just shutting off the ignition after letting off the pedal passing the traps, then getting it in to neutral. We havent seen any pressure spikes on the race pack so I think we are good. Thanks for the suggestion though! Might help someone that is having trouble with that.

+1 what he said. Always fuel off first, but better be ready with the ignition kill, especially with alcohol. OP is 100% on the money. Also, not sure if you learned this yet, but in case you haven't, if you're running alcohol, make sure you run a Nitro 60 or 70wt oil, because they're specifically designed to protect your motor in spite of fuel dilution of the oil and cylinder washdown (which is HUGE, especially with mechanical injection!). Hopefully this saves you or somebody a rebuild! Great channel! Sub!@@bloodbrothersracing

The way I put MFI to somebody new who asks about an accelerator pump is this way, "the whole damn THING is one big, mean accelerator pump!" My stepson came over a year or two ago and asked me why I bother with it. I told him to drive my 85 Corvette with a BBC with Hilborn stack injection one time. He came back with the biggest grin on his face I've ever seen...throttle response is better than carb, EFI, I don't care what you've got. Give me a port injected mechanical setup any day just for that nasty tip-in!

It's a lot of fun! But also a lot of work to keep it working at max effort.
