A great day on an epic job! Working rope access for an IRATA certified company underneath a bridge over rushing water coming in through a lock. Doing some aid climbing with beam clamps and on Grillons and the Petzl Progress Adjust to remove scaffolding. Lowering of the scaffolding was done on a Petzl Rig.
Some jobs are just more fun than others ;-)
So this time not offshore rope access work or offshore wind turbine rope access work. Onshore and still over water rope access work!
My ancient GoPro 7 still delivers. Should I upgrade to the 10?

Late to the party, but awesome vid!! Got into rocks for fear of heights. Got into trees for money. Highest I've been "working" is 140ish crane with jib riding the ball. 500ish rock when I was younger and a little crazier. That exposure is just plain insane. To do such smooth technical work is to say the least, satisfying to watch. Just under Angel/Astronaut. Great job!

Seeing the way you guys utilise the Petzl Rig was actually quite eye opening 😮 and the lowering was unbelievably smooth 🤯 great video and great content 🥳👍

To tell you the truth, those ropes were super old and stiff and those pieces we were lowering weren't all that heavy. So I just had the handle fully opened 😉

@@AlexBuiter What do you always wear on the industrial harness? No matter what work they do. ....... A larger job with rigging coming soon?
@AlexBuiter
@AlexBuiter 2 года назад
@@technoheld1989 totally depends on the job and if I’m using my own gear. Most of the time gear is provided by the client. On this job I carried a small Rock Exptica Omni and a turbochest ascender by Camp. And an extra Petzl Biner with integrated pulley. And on my own Grillon I have a permanent dmm revolver for easy use and ascending. Also on my harness are two Petzl Progress Adjust lanyards. All came in very handy on this job!

Hi Alex, thank you for for making this and I never comment on vids, but this is a well filmed, steady and post-processing video about what we do! Could you also have another fixed position/3rd person cameras set up around your site and then presented in tandem to your 1st person view in one video?
@AlexBuiter
@AlexBuiter 2 года назад
Tjalk you very much, I appreciate that! I totally get what you are saying and if the opportunity arises I will definitely do that. Makes for a way better video. However most of the times the places I work at restrict any photo or filming. I was glad I could film this. But, yes, things like that are always on my mind!

@@AlexBuiter Nothing in particular I guess. I would have to actively seek it though as I mostly work on wind turbines and off season, I teach Irata courses.
@AlexBuiter
@AlexBuiter 2 года назад
Well, that is not a bad gig! I also like to balance the teaching and practical side. Every few weeks an IRATA course and as much rope access operational work as I can mix in with my photography and filming. Also maybe interesting for you if you teach... I have started a new channel dedicated to creating the most complete rope access video library. The full launch will happen next week I think. Find it here: bit.ly/3s9YVZt 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I'd love to see an overview of some of the rigging you used. Beam clamps etc
@AlexBuiter
@AlexBuiter Год назад
That's basically it, Beam clamps and some steels. Oh right and a couple of rigging plates R2R Id's. Damn haha there was more to it than just simply rigging some ropes. But you can see everything in the video. I show all the rigging, there was not more out of frame. Is there something you specifically would like to know?

I just found your private channel, awesome work right there. I like those beam clamps, pretty new looking. Did you use radio comms with the other climber and the ground crew? It seems like the water noise was pretty loud. Great video, I will watch all your other ones now. Thank you, Jim H, Oregon, USA
@AlexBuiter
@AlexBuiter Год назад
Thanks Jim, I dont remember if we had radios. I dont think so. Just the supervisor to the rescue boat. We used handsignals between the techs. Eye contact and a nod was enough. I actually put on my helmet earmuffs because of the noise.

How does the rig for rescue system work when you are clipped to the other anchor with a grillon?
@AlexBuiter
@AlexBuiter 2 года назад
Great observation James! In case of a rescue someone would need to get to the casualty and lower him onto the ropes used for the initial access. From there it could be a simple lower to the bridge below. In this case it gave us multiple options to perform a rescue.
