Thanks a ton dude. Playing only soccer, I have a lot more leg strength than upper body strength and this showed me how to properly utilize it. Thanks again!
The ropes are durable and just like the ones at the gym. ru-vid.comUgkxTFxba6lNeHrZaHoY_LXe6ZzmMfaipnwu Caution: I bought the 50 feet ropes and they are long and heavy so make sure you have the space (I do have the space). If I was to do it again I would probably get a shorter version as 50 feet (25 feet each side) is a little long.
Me watching a rope climb tutorial on my recommendations: Psst who needs a tutorial for rope climbing? 5 secs later after the video starts: *What is this wizardry*
I wish RU-vid was around when I was in junior high school back in the mid 90's. That rope climb was the toughest thing I had to do in P.E. Any other exercise or run or obstacle, no problem. But that rope climb was like kryptonite to me.
Hey great video. The gym i go to got a new rope and I couldn't figure out how to get up. I watched your video and I was able to make it to the top on my first try using the S method. I was surprised that your instruction made it so easy. Great work. 👍
There’s a third method called “Muscle up with raw arm power, minimal friction, and a dream” and it’s infuriating to watch your friend pull it off after you’ve struggled with this for ages
I tried your technique today and it actually works! I appreciate you showing this video, I never thought I could climb a rope as far as I did today! Thank you!
had a dream about climbing a rope using the wrap around method. I never knew the wrap around method, or even how to climb a rope. I just remembered the dream, and decided to find out how to. Really helpful. Thanks!
I learned the wrap around method in boot back in '96. The instructor here completely loses his wrap on the climb and reapplies it after crunching his body towards his hands. When I was instructed on how to do it, we kept the wrap and only loosened the hold to move our legs up. It makes locking the rope back in place that much easier and quicker, should you start to lose your grip with your hands. Only someone who has spent an incredible amount of time in the gym getting muscles like this man, can completely let the wrap go and make it work.
Same here and also graduated Sand Hill Infantry School, Dco 1/19, in 96. Drill Sgts Taurez, Swanson and Allen. Our C.C. was Bennet. Graduated Sabalauski Airassault School end of same year. Wrap around method was the strongest lock for me and it functions exactly as you describe.
There’s an easier way to do these. You don’t have to pull up with your arms as your crunching your legs upward for another hold. That’s a waste of energy and arm strength. Bring your legs up to secure the new foothold (as your arms are still just stretched out) then use both your legs and arms to pull yourself up to the next cycle. Half the effort.
I ship off in a week to MCRD San Diego and I’ve never climbed a rope before. Watch this video everyday other day so I know what to do at basic training.
Lol, I’m going to an Obstacle Training Ground with some friends today and I’ve never been able to climb the rope 🤣. I knew the theory of the S method but I could never actually do it! This will help a lot! Thanks!!
Man thanks for the detailed technique video! I have struggled with rope climbing since boot camp I still can’t get it right. Gravity will not allow me the time to practice! I recommend the Garmot boot
I can already climb ropes, I’ve been able to climb them ever since the 5th grade, but I wanted to see more techniques. I can wrap my legs around the rope or just pull with nothing but my arms and leave the legs dangling.
In the video it is said that it's not allowed to change methods at the top as this means releasing the lock and putting oneself at risk. The 'S' method releases the lock at every stage of the climb. As demonstrated; lift legs, lock, push with legs. Then repeat. It seems that this method puts the climber at risk at every stage. Am I right or am I missing something?
Random Guy on YT I can do 26 pull ups max and I’ve climbed rope with no legs just swinging a lot lol the rope was higher and I’ve slid down and got rope burn every time smh
I was swimming with some friends, and we were making efforts to climb a 25ft rope swing up a tree. I have no training, but someone pointed out I was using my feet. I explained (on the rope) "Yeah.. It makes it so I don't need my hands as much" Then, showed them both my palms. "No hands." Turns out, I naturally use the S method. Thank you, I wasn't a 100% sure how to explain it. Also, it's not pleasant to use S method barefoot. Rope burn is an issue. I have never tried, but I assume wrap around is equally problematic for the top of your foot.
I’ve gotten the technique down and everything and I have the strength to climb it, only issue I have is i’m not the best with heights and it’s a pretty high rope but i’m going to practice every day until I can do it.
Excellent video! You clearly & concisely demonstrated & explained everything-this is one of the best videos on rope-climbing techniques. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ You’re an awesome teacher! Thank you! 🙏
Friends, no eartly wealth is greater than the treasures of Heaven. JESUS can prepare a mansion for you if you were to follow HIM. seek HIM and HE will fulfill all your desires. In the name of JESUS I you with humility to accept HIM
These are designed to be able to climb a rope with full pack and weapon. You'd never do it with just arms alone. Burden is distributed across arms, core and legs
I got AIC in a week and so I was worried about the rope since I’m assuming for the IPA I can’t fail the rope and I literally just did it at the o course at like 5PM lmaoo watching your demonstration helped so much, wish me luck boys
Not to brag or anything but I inherently used the wrap around method in elementary and middle school with no prior training or knowledge, it just feels... *correct.*
We used to climb rope in school and nobody taught us this. We just used hands up and down. Man.... Kinda curious to see if there some playground with a rope near by.
First if you think it's easy try to do 10x pull ups can't do pull ups do 50x push ups a day if you reach the requirements well give it a try if you succeed well done
They had sent me to medical for whatever reason the di’s were explaining those methods then when we redid one of the courses I didn’t know what to do and got yelled at lol. I eventually learned it after they screamed the instructions to me lol
