Bino... I want to thank you for being the best arborist teacher on RU-vid (at least in my opinion). I've learned a lot from you, and really appreciate how accessible your teaching style is! Just the right levels of information! Overall, you've helped me to feel safer when working in trees! For real! Sending lots of gratitude to ya!

This video is very important, because "Bino" is most important. There are many vids about these tools, the difference with this one vid is the presenter. Many years of using all the tools brought Bino to the point where his oppnion is like gold. He didn't read about the tools, someone didn't tell him about them, he didn't watch a video about his topic. Bino lived the experiences. That means hands on, waist deep in muck, supporting his life, and yes he has made mistakes, then learned and corrected for them. Thank you Bino.

Great comparison. After working with the Hitch Climber setup a while, I'm looking to play with some SRT, mainly for occasional ascents, and I'm checking into mechanical devices. As I understand it, you can use a Rope Runner or Akimbo for ups and downs on SRT, but need to add the Chicane for a ZigZag? The main gripe I've heard about the Akimbo is that even a small amount of sap can seriously interfere with it.
@BinoH

Bino - so glad I discovered you - I'm old school DRT and now thinking of shifting to SRT So this comparison is exactly what I needed as I was thinking mechanical but based on what you've said, my mind is saying go the rope wrench Question I have is whether to go with a stiff tether or the Notch Fusion Wrench Tether at 4 times the price - probably a rhetorical question as I can't see the improvement is four times better although I haven't tried I'm curious to know if you have experience with the Notch Fusion Wrench
@BinoH
@BinoH 2 года назад
I think the Wrench it a good way to go it is a lot less expensive. I have not used the fusion tether but it might be better to use a stiff tether first. This will give you a chance to see it you like SRT/ SRS.

@@BinoH no worries Bino - keep your genuine videos coming Just watched one by Strider called 'My Pro Climbing setup ("I don't care what it costs I'm just getting the best I can setup")' It was good to see a complete run thru of climbing gear - even if I think his choice of foot ascender is not optimal compared to yours So I'm keen to see a similar one by you if you haven't done one already - but perhaps with a care to costs :)

Old skool is always the most reliable. I like the rope wrench with a prusik too. I use that on the same blue and white rope you have displayed. On drt I use the zigzag with a rope wrench cuz the zig zag is to fast sometimes on ivy. Gets jumpy now and then and the rope wrench pretty much smooths it out. What is the blue and white rope you have there, called? I would buy more of it. I got a 200’ cheap from a rock climber who wasn’t going to use it and he didn’t know what it was either.

I'd chose the rope wrench too. I just feel safer. If a hitch is looking worn, I can see that, and replace it. I know where I stand with rope. But the metal kit can't be visually checked for wear. Today I saw a saftey notice/partial recall, for the petzl devices. That just hits it home for me, I struggle to trust in devices ( exept carabiners ! Although I never did like the petzl AM D...). And as a side note, I LOVE ropes and knots ! 😁

Cool but you don't have to make one. When I made my tether there wasn't very many options. You could buy a quick drawl and buy a Notch Quickie and have a set up almost like mine. You could use the Quckie as the part that attaches to top of the pulley. also Rope Logic makes a tether called a Shorty but I'm not sure if Quickie will fit into the eye of the Tether.

when i bought the rope runner pro, i also bought notch dragon rope which was the one used by Kelvin in his rope runner pro. With that I expected only to have to make an adjustment for perfect functioning. But within minutes of use came frustration. I noticed that the rope runner quickly flattened the rope and slippage was inevitable. So I learned that this was a fact that you must take into account in some types of ropes and that you must learn to compensate its effect
