@@kanaefan372 same, there was an obvious chemistry between them which I appreciate and I would love me a Jess but as a friend and when he has matured a bit. And for Rory, Jess was better off as a friend than a boyfriend - those cute moments they had before their relationship started, when he actually communicated with her, were the best
I loved how they actively showed each other how much they cared and that they met half way in doing so. Rory travelling all the way to New York and in the later seasons, to where he worked at a book store was really nice to see. They just look so natural together 🤍✨
I don't like that when they dated they mainly made out and barely talked about books which was what first attracted Rory to Jess. And when she got all those college acceptance letters they never showed Jess' reaction which would've been a proud Jess. Disappointed.
Rory didn't deserve Jess. He became an upstanding person while she was painted as this perfect girl who cheated on Dean with Jess, then cheated with Dean on Lindsay, and then cheated with Logan on his fiance in the revival. Rory was NOT a good person, and Jess won the lottery by not ending up with her!
It's quite true she was not a nice person in many ways, specially with all the cheating. But he was not a good person in the begginning either. He was extremely rude to everyone, the way he treated luke, did pranks to people who did nothing to him, acted like an ass most of the time and did not make any effort to improve himself. Besides just leaving rory with no goodbye whatsoever and coming back asking her to leave everything for him. He became extremely great with time, but he wasn't a good person in the beggining just like her.
@@beatrizbueno9090 Oh agreed, to everything here! He was not a good boyfriend when they were dating. It's just he DID grow and become a better person afterwards, and Rory, the paragon of virtue in everyone's eyes, did the opposite.
@@AddBowIfGirl you know I actually thought that too when I first saw the series way back but watching it again as an adult he actually wasn’t a bad guy he had issues communicating his feelings yes but he had a lot going on his father was a deadbeat dad and his mom was irresponsible so she had her brother watch over him basically raising him and it was obvious that the kid raised himself because no one cared, on top of that the town always painted him as this bad guy even when he did nothing wrong. Rory didn’t struggle like how Jess struggled in life everything was basically given to her but that obviously effected her as an adult because that’s not how life works. when Jess leaves town he does so because he needed to go find himself and that was right after he randomly meets his dad who sees him for a mins and bails on him again meanwhile Rory biggest worries was him not being able to attend Prom, Rory was annoying and self absorbed
A 16 yr old jess with a dysfunctional family and past and the older and very mature jess were two different people. He got out that town and actually got his shit together, he had a major character development but rory stayed right where she was.
He wasn't even the worse guy she dated lmao. Dean cheated on his WIFE with rory and Logan cheated on his FIANCE with rory. Jess just was introverted and had flunked out of school and couldn't take rory to prom so not the best of moods. The worst thing he did was get into a car crash(Which was barely Jess's fault) and left because he knew the whole town would hate him.(If you couldn't I like Jess)
Honestly he was a loser and a terrible person. Good looks don't fix the insides. Though Rory was no angel either. At least he gave her a bit of a reality check when everyone else always treated her like she could do no wrong.
I feel like he would be a loser and not as impactful in the series if we didn't get a character growth the way we did, his character to me at first was just the bad boy and I was already over that trope, but after seeing him getting better with his relationship with luke and also getting his shit together I really saw him differently once I rewatch the series, I now love his character from a story telling point of view. But that's the thing with gg, the characters can be so real that when they messed up is almost impossible to forget that sometimes they can be so lovable, just like in real life relationships of any kind (this is my case, especially with emily, I love her but she can be the worst a lot of the times and yet when shes hurt I sympathized with her)
I'm not as big of a Gilmore Girls fan anymore, but I sometimes go down memory lane by watching these Literati videos, just because of how similar their relationship is to a situation I was in. Except it's gender-flipped where I was more like Jess and my ex was more like Rory. I was just getting out of a toxic place, closed-off and secretly dealing with trauma and anxiety. He was the only person who saw through my mask. We used to stay up until 5am texting, and we bonded over mutual interests. I didn't know what to do when our friendship starting to become more...so I impulsively ended things and ghosted him 😞 it's my biggest regret. We're friends again but he's dating another girl now so 😕 didn't mean to go on a rant sry
