Absolute magic from the best there ever will be................first saw Rory with Taste and knew this man was something special......saw him many times and every time was different......not many artistes can pull that off.........R.I.P. Rory................Ballyshannon is a lonely place without you.......
One of reasons why I play the guitar. A treasure. One of the best ever. Saving up for fender Strat. Don't know weather to get a stat or telecaster. Best slide player ever
My first Gallagher record was ‘Blueprint’, from one of those mail-order record club thingies; my mother was a subscriber. “This looks interesting” said my 15yo self on seeing the review in the mailout, so she got it for me. Never looked back after that. I’d listened to Jeff Beck before that, but Rory- different planet.
Just stumbled upon this video today of Rory recording alone with his acoustic guitar. Sound & video quality are excellent. Thanks for posting. Enjoyed this!
It makes me happy to be here, still listening, 50 years down the line since I first heard this extraordinary man play and sing. Sad to be the only one of us getting old.
Thank you for sharing these amazing clips of a really gifted man who did something of his talent. I'm now 53, and I have been playing since the age of 14. Often woke up with my guitar in my bed from playing until I fell asleep the night before. So, I had that sparkle once. Then life came between. But now at 50, I did a review of my life. Finally got me that Harley chopper I dreamt about and started to believe the words from the ones who listened to my singing and playing. I accept that God has given me a talent, and I will not bury it in the ground. I want, I will use it for the glory of Him, and If I can sing a tune or two for the good of my fellow man, then I pray the Lord to bless me with songs to sing. It does not have to be on some big stage, just a song for some one an early morning making him or her believe that they are loved by God. I guess we all have talents of some kind, and I believe we should try to do whatever good we can with them. The world is in desperate need of all the goodness we can bring to it.
Apart from being a brilliant guitar player Rory Gallagher is a good singer. He has a very pleasant sounding voice, very suitable for this kind of music.
I'm searching for footage of RG playing "Out of My Mind" sitting in what looked like the steps of a bus. I have a feeling it may have been part of this session.
