I saw Rory open for Johnny Winter in Seattle in 75 or 76. Damn what a show. I later named my second son Rory. This guy is my all time fav. The strat comes alive in his hands. Have Mercy!!!!

Let's not forget the drummers of this band The keyboardist and Gerry McAvoy they're all legends they will gorgeous men but what I don't understand if somebody can tell me if you know in this video and other photos on Google it looks like another man that looks like Rod de'ath the drummer in this video he's standing was standing next to Gerry McAvoy before they were going on he's smoking a cigarette he has a dark blue t-shirt the drummer Rod has a light a white-ish looking t-shirt who is that other gentleman they look like very very close yet in Google photos they're saying they're trying to say it's Rowdy as it's not him does anybody know who that dude is have a blessed one
I first heard this on my favourite radio show in Australia back in 1974. Completely blew me away, so I made sure to record it on my radio/cassette player the next time it was played. Had NO idea it was filmed, and only first saw this clip about four years ago.

rory is and will be my favourit musician of all time! What a fabulous performance. I feel so blessed to be discovering Rory's music (how did he fall below my radar for so long?!!) and loving the more I hear. His playing is so visceral, lyrical, intense, sublime!
Had never heard of Rory until previewed on Billy Pinnel’s Sunday night radio Album Show in ‘74 Melbourne Aus .That was enough to get me to his concert a week later…..unbeaten gig still after nearly 50 years, including Beatles, BeachB’s, Stones, Pink Floyd, BadCo., Purple, EltonJ etc. JimiH when asked what it’s like to be world’s best rock guitarist, he said go ask Rory Gallagher…. My god Donal he was a light in the dark for us early 70’s kids. No comforts, icicles inside yer window. No central heating. My flat mates and I had a turntable and a few lp’s to keep us warm. Thank god we had him.
O.K. Rory Fans, I almost got this one figured out. First download this video to your computer and run it from there for this experiment. If you have "Irish Tour" CD, cue up Tattoo'd Lady" and set this video (running from your hard drive) on :35 Seconds AND then start the video about a 1/2 second before mashing play on the I-Pod. That should give the re-mixed audio from the CD (much mo betta' than the audio from the video) and synch it up pretty good.
in Texas you must say I was a little kid during this time. Living in the Southeast with my family in this video and other pictures I see on Google of this band their Legends us not forget the drummer's the keyboardist and of course the bass player but who is that other man that looks like rod de'ath especially in this video and in Google pictures he's standing there next to Gerry McAvoy smoking a cigarette with a dark blue t-shirt he looks out quite a bit like rod and then in the Google searches they show this guy's picture and they're trying to say it's Rowdy after they clearly have slightly different faces slightly different body build does anyone out there here know who that man is I don't understand if you Google and look at their photos of the spaniel see this guy and like I said he looks quite a bit like the drummer gorgeous man they were I don't understand why Rory Gallagher didn't get married and have children God bless
People that knew Rory said he was pretty much married to his guitar. You know what I mean. Many musicians I have known their music comes before anything/anyone else. I have been in that spot where I was always gonna be number 2. This doesn't hold true for all musicians, just my experience.
This song contains one of the most awesome guitar solos ever, but the cameraman didn't have a clue with the camera. Why would you focus on Rory and the bass guitarist's heads when Rory is playing the ending solo? The focus should have been on Rory's fingers playing this awesome solo. This is what happens when non-musicians film music concerts--he/she doesn't have a clue what to focus on. There is no reason to watch this--just listen to the audio.
