Yeah, about 2 years ago, me and some other dude were writing comments back and forth about tbe bass players' wide stance. Me, him, and some other dudes kept communicating every few weeks weeks about him "Sporting a wide stance" Anyway, every now and then, me and these other dudes also check in with each other and verify our "Wide Stance " It's really funny.
How in the hell did I miss this guy for so many years? Fantastic musician! I'm 76 years old and have earned the right to say: better late than NEVER! Hope I can listen to Rory for another 20 years! Always so nice in your twilight years to discover a new writer - or, in this case, a great musician! Rock on, Rory!✌
Guitar on a lead, playing on the blind, singing , no ear monitors , mixing it with the crowd , racing over and back.... Phew!! Rory was a Beast . RIP Legend . 🙏🙏
What? Are you serious? There are security guys, they are dressed just like everybody else. Can you not see them holding people back? Are we even watching the same video?
Ladies and gentlemen, that was rock and roll. You played until your guts fell out and then you played a little more. When Rory strapped on that Strat, it was game on. He never left anything behind. God, I miss those days.
I started playing Rory on the jukebox at my local bar and no one there ever heard of Rory and now they can't get enough one of my friends bought the 74 live since then Rock In Peace brother ✌️
@@bigsky3072 Correct I think it helped when he was belting out the riffs I went to ballyshannon Ireland in 2016 for the tribute concert I got I'll and couldn't get to the big Top It will have to wait until I save up and do it again
When Hendrix was asked in a interview "Many people feel you're the best guitarist in the world , do you think you are ? "- Reply = Nah man better ask Rory Gallagher that question "...
I remember Brian May talking about how his tone was basically a carbon copy of gallaghers. He apparently saw gallagher live and asked how he got his tone and he said “well, strat, into AC30 with a treble booster.” And brian kinda took that and made it his own
I guess there's something to be said for bands that can play to sold out arenas and shit like that, but to me Rory and his band are the absolute embodiment of rock music. No fancy stage props, no gimmicks, just pure raw energy and face-melting talent.
No fancy Gimmicks? his hair and jump around the stage is all a gimmick for his amazing guitar playing. No harm in a good gimmick when there is awesome talent above it.
@@bighands69 Rory NEVER used any gimmicks like today's GARBAGE. Unless You could call His Vox AC30 and Rangemaster trebel boost a 'gimmick'. He was pure and and THE BEST EVER.
I am 67 And I still love him bass guitars is awesome Rory you have kept me awake many nights you are freaking beautiful I will never get tired listen to you ❤❤❤❤❤
Did you Rory transferred all his talent to someone that fine tuned it and also have an excellent voice? No? Search out Samantha Fish, you will not be disappointed
Don't get tired of watching this video, this is top quality, top performer, top real (no playback) with all the right flaws at the right time: the voice while he jumps, the guitar when he gets close to the fans and they touch it/him (without him complaining or making a face), you can feel the joy in playing/singing to people without vanity, what a GENIUS!!!
There is such an amazing array of live artists out there such as Rory Gallagher, Led Zeppelin, Kinks, Beach Boys, Eagles, Elvis, Chuck Berry, Janis Joplin and many many more. The thing is all of the above artists were the real thing and could do it live.
Wellcome to the world of REAL old school Rhythm & Blues. :) Might wanna check out Alvin Lee's 'Ten Years After' aswell ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NfOHnXEMJAw.html
Saw him two nights in a row at Chestnut Cabaret in Philly. Went to happy hour on Friday to buy tickets for Saturday and was able to stay for the Friday show. Blew the doors off the place! Nobody better! Johnny Winter was always my favorite, but I think it's Rory now.
My Dad said that there was so many insane solos and performances he did that sadly never were recorded. There is a lot of good ones out there including this one. My Dad was a guitar player in the early 70s and saw him every chance he got. That’s kind of the beauty that this guy is such a insane talent and not many people don’t know of him outside of the blues world. Also used no pedals. Super underrated player
As a young guitarist, man i can feel so many bands that were inspired by this dude… I know he has a huge influence on guitarists even to this day but like, damn. I can feel EVERYTHING. Anything from Queen, Hendrix, hell and even PUNK. Truly a master!!
That was hands down one of the best performances I've ever seen. Rory is the pinnacle of musical talent. Most acts today cannot hold a candle to this level of musicianship and stage presence.
Ha ha don't forget he played lead and rhythm at the same time who could do that today live without effects? FANTASTIC MUSICIAN AND DOWN TO EARTH GUY?😊👍🇬🇧
I'm reading autobiography of Bruce Dickinson and name Rory Galagher was mentioned couple of times as his role model. I have to addmit I didn't know him so I Googled him. Boy, am I happy I did that! When I saw that piece of perfection it blew me away! Pure awasome R'N'R at its best!! All three of them are masters on their instruments!! And what an energy!!! Just WOW!!
Rory Gallagher playing like a man possessed... This is what rock n roll should be.. no auto tune or smart phones back in the day. Rory lived for the music and the fans not the image or money...and what about Gerry McAvoy on the bass...This is the real deal
@@pazamor9164 Not true....Gerry McAvoy has been a good friend of Mine for many many years....He told Me Rory would have some booze, but He would get mad at Gerry and Ted McKenna (RIP, My old pal) for smoking weed before a show.
Saw Rory loads of times went to Dublin for a weekend went and stood under Rory’s guitar got very emotional what a legend the greatest rock blues guitarist that ever lived no bullshit just pure genius
total live madness! 1979 and the sound is perfect, you can clearly hear guitar, bass and drums..audience simply goes into raptures..no mobile phones.. everybody listen to music rhythm..
Very good analyz...congrulations..from istanbul When i wached him i was asthonished ... i said to my self *what a great musician* it was 1979 or 80 at RAINBOW concert hall(may be was in hammersmith odeon)...
Jesus H. Tap Dancing Christ! That whole scene of the guitar laying on the stage should be rock legend. You ain't pulling that off without a kick ass rhythm section like he has here.
I'm french. I know Rory till i was student and i've Always said to my wife w'ill go to Cork one day to celebrate him. It's done. And I Always listen this song on my way to work... For 6 years now. It's make me strong for thé day with "going to my hometown"
Damn this is Amazing! Stationed in Germany and saw him in concert. The US has no idea of the talent abroad. Thankfully Rory had a lot of recorded concert video. This is a TREASURE!!!
First of all Rory was a very gentle pure and polite Man...2nd maybe the best rock and roll guitarist ever to live with his raw rock sound with his strato and Amp that's all he needed...Been listening to him for 40 years Thank you Rory RIP...

The unsong hero and MOST underrated guitarist of all time. Rory is the epitomy of talent, modesty and a musician powerhouse: Even violence in Ireland stood still for a Rory Gallagher concert. Top that, any other musician!!!
PLEASSSE!!!! Stop using "underrated" on every music video. It only make you look like a foll? underrated? Since when? By whom? And who cares? Because you didn't know him doesn't make him underrated.
No flash, no frills, just a guitar man of the purest form. I was blessed to have seen him in his prime which to this day I hold as one of the best memories of my life.
Gerry "the bass player" is-well beyond words. Rory and Gerry together was Fantastic and to this day remarkable that three men could put out such a big noise.
This is what is missing from music today. I hate to sound like an old fart, and I'm not...actually. Just saying, THIS is a man giving it his all and not really caring what you think...or maybe he does and isn't afraid of disappointing you. At any rate, this is what I look for. Thank you.
Je découvre Rory Gallagher sur cette vidéo... Et je suis scotché ! En voilà un qui sait manier sa gratte ! Quel enthousiasme, quelle énergie ! Voilà un magnifique artiste, du grand son ! 👍
I love the way he completely gets the audience with this pure rock’n’roll energy. After this amazing solo everybody is standing, clapping, dancing... Living in a South American country and having “only” 43 years old all I can say is that I envy these people in the audience so much. I wish I could have been there too.
And if this had been played in a Latin American country the partying would be heard on the other side of the universe. Latin American rock audiences are amazing.
Have been a nonstop Rory fan since his Tattoo’d Lady album in ‘72. I loved how he just played. No fancy suits or light shows, just pure powerful rock and blues. No pretension. Gotta love a guitarman who just lets the music and talent speak.
@@TheKoss44100 Hiya Kerry Kat. Spot on with your comments, except for one small detail. Rory is Irish. He is not from the UK, which would mean he English. Rory is from my home city of Cork in Ireland. Is mise le meas. Liam ó Maolcatha.
That's the way it's supposed to be done. 70's guitar at it's best. Down in the audience, rest of the group entirely behind you. Not studio, but real. He really was something else!!.
