I saw Rory and his band in a very small bar in a very small town of southern Wisconsin. He's the greatest then and now. He's a million miles away but alive and well on RU-vid. God bless him. Jimi Hendrix said Rory was the greatest guitar player alive. 🎉
I'm with you there. Always had a love for his music and the person. Besides all his brilliant music and guitar talent, there is no other band or musician that I know of that has better song intro's. Is there a memorial weekend in Europe where bands play his music over a weekend? I've heard of this but coming from South Africa, it's not that publicised.
I am a proud Irish man ..because of my brothers an sisters from cork ...I was born and raised in Germany but my Mom was from Ireland ..Iam 60 years old by now and never bin there ..I think its time to go home ❤❤
Just this evening my mate and I were having a few beers here in Brisbane, Australia, wishing we had visited Ireland. We are both originally from London, England, but we've never been to Ireland. My mate's name is Mick Murphy...he really should visit Ireland.
A good friend of min have the same experience. He met rory on the street in Mainz (Germany) 1979. My friend was at every gig in Germany from Rory in that year. So Rory also tell him that he remember hin and invited im backstage for the concert at that evening
One of the reasons my oldest son (38) is called Rory! When my late wife and I saw him aged 17 (one of probably 15 times) we said if we had a son we'd all him Rory.
Piece, as in piece of music... masterpiece, as in the greatest piece of music written by a certain artist... this SONG is a MASTERPIECE in every sense of both words.
Non lo conoscevo, sono rimasta folgorata. Mi è arrivato tutto dritto al cuore, frequenza immediata, musica senza inganno che può scaturire solo da un uomo così autentico e puro, prima ancora che da un artista
I'm watching a genius that played straight from the heart ..This type of musicianship is rare..Forget tricks and speed and so-called power playing...What your looking at here can not be learned from a book or video ..this is true art ..R.I.P Rory
Crying. Sittin' and crying. Just sitting here remembering people I have known who have passed. And of course Rory was/ is a huge part of life for me. Even now, all these years later. Beautiful Rory. Bless.🌹My god
Je me le repasse toujours en boucle, merci. Rory,c magnifique , vive Rory. On ne pas t'oublier. J'adore. Un guitariste de blues, le ch'tiiii moucheurs...
No problem with Chaka Khan, Rock n Roll is derived from African Americans in any case. She's a classic artist. There are plenty of others you could've used to make your point...........
If you go to any st Patrick’s day parade in America and ask the crowd if they know who Rory Gallagher is they’ll look at you like they are a million miles away.
What a shame. Rory Gallagher was a iconic guitarist true to the art, a great Irishman, and was an inspiration. R.I.P. I'm three quarters of a century old and always remember.
Awesome. I saw him in a rock concert at Rockingham Speedway. A very much smaller version of Woodstock. It was so good. So hot. We got so high. Saw alot of other greats, like Black Oak Arkansas, Alice Cooper, James Gang, alot more. Fuzzy memories for sure.
I was lucky enough to see Rory twice in the 70s in Madrid, the memory is for a lifetime, now I am 71 and I have never seen the attraction that he exerts on people at concerts, it is simply magical, only Rory and It was an advance an exceptional guitarist, along with Peter Green they are my idols until the end
have the pleasure to see him in Athens in 1981 but the concert was stopped and an overnight war of fans with the police broke out.. I miss these days !
Most underrated artist of the rock era. Total mastery of the instrument, total commitment to the music. Nothing that guy can't do with a guitar. As good a guitarist as anybody who ever lived, and a great songwriter to boot.
R.I.P Rory, Rod and Lou , Only Gerry is alive.Sad but true, What a great music group they were . Rory was an axe man extraordinaire. I saw him ones live 1988 . It was awesome.
A million miles away - Rory played it different - from gig to gig , from year to year, but always in his genuine way, simply true and convincing. This number is so amazing - can only be compared with the best rock songs in history!
Saw Rory extradinare Guitarist at park West Chicago two Shows any- How between gigs Rory was outside talking to A beautiful Blonde ,and Rory saw me so Salute with The Number 1 On my fingers he Saluted me back with Peace sign with his Fingers it was Awesome ,plus both Shows!!!
The guitar in this song is terrifying ... it's so expressive that if you listen too closely you will hear pieces of a broken heart falling down and shattering on the floor
So much passion.....each member of this group.....is just so much into what they are playing......no big money contracts or bullshit corporate backdoor deals....just pure and sincere music played by great guys.....great musicians too.......!
Yes , Rory Gallagher like Levon Helm, were allways musics that love what they done, and feel passion by music. It was allways amazing to see and listen them playing live
I know the word underrated gets tossed around with almost any guitarist there is, but dam, Rory has never gotten the recognition he deserved. I mean even Hendrix was in awe of his playing.
A friend of mine, now long since past, told me of a convesation he had once, with a very shy, unassuming guy, at a music venue that had left an indelable mark on him. The guy he chatted with that night? Rory Gallagher! Me, well, I shook the hand, that had shook the hand of!
Visited his grave one week ago. And Phil's. Felt so humbled being there. I felt they we're definitely not a million miles away. Thanks guys for giving us this much x
So very lucky not to only seen him many times both with Taste and this band. But so fortunate to have spent time with him at the Buxton blues and Rock concerts. Love reading everyone's comments. I call this raw blues. He played from his heart and soul.
