Make no mistakes ,, this guy's golf swing is without question one of the most technically perfect golf swings in the history of the game. As much as I liked Tiger's swing when he was in his prime McIlroy's swing is better, absolute perfect balance. At 25 years of age who knows where this kid could end up.
Tiger's swing now is the most technically perfect swing I've ever seen..Rory's swing is damn good, but he tends to shove it out a bit during the take away and drop it to the inside during the transition. To me, swinging on the D plane ala Tiger, justin Rose is the best way to go about ball striking.
munnjean Agree. Tiger worries about the left side, duck hooked & pushed many times, changed to a weird fade swing. Rory has no worries when he swing, and free flow. I'm not talking about winning & scoring, just swing, definitely better than Tiger's swing!
To be clear it is not technically perfect. Shaft is too upright on the backswing and drops under plane on the downswing. It is well timed ill give him that but technically he hits it long due to the lag he makes and the whip swinging under plane or inside creates. Nowhere near as efficient as tiger. Not even close. Just a pretty well timed swing.
His neighbour seems to have more doubts about his swing........ lol Huge elasticity and tone in Rory's swing, gives a powerfull release..... Love to swing it so smooth
This is the most fluid and effective golf swing out there, and when the short game/putting comes together, he is literally on a whole other level than anyone else..(including woods)
When tiger hits fairways nothing compares. Nobody had the mental game. Iron game. Short game and knew how to attack golf courses better than Tiger. Rory is stuck on 4 just like he was because he has regressed. He hasn’t learned how to play courses any better over the years. Tries to hit it 450 every hole and don’t care about position.
Your driver swing looks pretty good. You've got a really good shoulder turn, good hip turn, and your follow through position looks very similar to Rory's. The only issue or discrepancy that I can see, based on your power draw video, is the angle of your spine and your cupped left wrist at address position. Its an easy fix: when you set up with your driver, make sure that your spine is angled away from the target with a straight line running from your sternum to the inside of your left knee. The high left shoulder and low right shoulder position will automatically force your hands forward, so that your left arm is more vertically aligned with your left shoulder and the club, as is evident when Rory sets up with his driver. Also notice that in Rory's set up position, his left wrist is quite flat, with the back of his left hand facing the target. This can be achieved by weakening your grip so that you only see a couple knuckles on your left hand. Hope that helps.
+mastercleaner57 Lol if that were true, a lot of teaching pros would be out of a job. Do you really think rory's swing coach is as good as he is? If he were he'd be a pro himself
Most teaching pros are pros. Just not Tour pros. It’s like a basketball coach who played on Division one but couldn’t go the the NBA. Doesn’t mean they aren’t good, just not the top 1%.
Its Hilarious how many people have an opinion on how his swing can be Optimized.... If you are not a Professional Golfer or haven't won a Tournament or are not at least a plus 4 handicap, you should be silent and go work on your own game, with this free time you apparently have to post your b.s. Actualize this insight if it is so Valid... You should at least be able to perform at the level you are suggesting can be achieved....
So true..awesome. Any person who knew about the golf swing would know 98% of these opinions are from people who can't break 75. This guys swing it's the real deal and very fundamental
His Body wont hold up after ten years swinging like this, he has worked too much on his large muscle groups and they will wear his joints because of the increased force generated by the extra power the muscles have created. great swing of course but has a short shelf life. He will certainly not be using his hips so fast and with such a turn in ten years either. Probably Tigers problem , he was at his peak when he was a lot thinner and leaner.
Modern players separate on the backswing, which is terrible for the body. You don't separate on the backswing, but you do on the downswing (the safe way) allowing for square shoulders at impact.
You can clearly see the Tiger has been copying that swing. Which is truly sad he should have gone back to his own videos from 1997 to 1999 because his swing was better than Rory's.
remmy100 The point is you don't like his swing because of a cupped wrist, as if this one piece defines his entire swing or ability. Why are some people so focused on minor details instead of looking at the entire picture? It's as if there's a checklist for the "perfect swing" and according to you Rory fails due to a cupped wrist. Sounds ridiculous, doesn't it, considering almost everything about his swing is near perfection? But I guess everyone is allowed to be a critic.
He will be out of the game by 40 with that swing. It is to damaging on his lower spine. He better study as much as he can about back fusion. He will need one.
Great swing but bad angles at address throwing him off. Too much weight pre-set on his back foot but more blatant is the forward hands and too open chest. What the heck is his instructor looking at?...these are all precursors for an out of plan swing every step of the way. No wonder he's lost and has fallen off the map this year. As Nicklaus has always said, " get back to basics".
