Fortunately there are a few golfers left that embrace the traditions and the history of The Game. The legends that went before are ill served by the LIV Tour. I'm glad there are high integrity legends like Rory to pay homage to those that went before.

I wonder if we'll see LIV take over the fall season, they can go around the world, put up as much money as they want, and nobody in the US will watch because it's football season. I love golf, whenever there isn't football on. There you go, LIV takes the fall, has their own championship in December, and the PGA Tour has the rest of the year. Players are not beholden to any tour, they can pick and choose the events they want to participate in. Meanwhile, thank you Rory for being the stalwart and the gentleman in this.

Don''t miss the players gone to LIV. There are plenty of really good players on the PGA tour and excellent new players coming.

Hard to trust what anyone says anymore but I can only hope he is truthful in what he has said. Sad that golf has become so divided. I prefer traditional golf to the team concept but also think there is room for both.

I understand all of Rory's classy comments, I couldn't give a sh!t about players who don't/aren't able to play in this exclusive field this week. I love this Tournament at Harbor Town and I look forward to watching the next 3 days of world class golf.

The sad thing about all of this is that it was fun seeing guys like Bryson tee it up every week. I don't care what anyone does in their professional life but losing the ability to see these guys play each other has really diminished the game. Looking forward to this being resolved eventually.

The PGA/DP need to stay strong on this. There is an absolute wealth of talent in the junior tours that can easily fill the gaps from the LIV players. It's the game that's important...not the current players.

I just want to see the best players in the world compete against each other. I respect the right of people to get paid, whatever their line of work. Every other major sport has seen an escalation in guaranteed contracts, and if PIF or PGA can find a way to increase the entertainment value of golf, more power to them.

Listen, Rory is a great player if he did decide that would be up to him. I think as he mentioned we need to keep an open mind. Guys can do whatever they want based on what’s best for them and family.

I think Rory needs to win the Masters or another major - before he gets a LIV offer like Jon Rahm. I can see that Scottie is good enough for LIV to make him a massive offer right now. I hope Rory stays & enjoys the PGAT - even if he never wins another major. He has won enough already & recently he is becoming more gracious.

Why do so many people think pro's who move to liv have no integrity? They never signed a contract at the start of their careers saying they will stay with PGA forever. They are puttung their familes 1st , all of us want to make as much money as we can from our careers. Liv has been good for golf, all of a sudden the PGA are finding extra prize money for their players🤔

Rory, present yourself to LIV and settle for a huge payday and go, the PGA has highlighted their dis-loyalty to the game and players. Once these two organisations merge the game will change and who knows what will happen with the pays. And as a bonus you can still play the PGA majors. Win win

I think the PGA Tour brings out the competitive nature of players because they have to strive to make the cut. LIV seems like a roaming carnival of golf rather than competitive sport. The PGA Tour has high stakes.

As a NorthernIrelander he isn’t even a conservative American patriot turning down LIV because of it being foreign dirty Saudi money which doesn’t compare to the American based PGA Tour. But as a conservative American patriot myself I fully stand with the PGA Tour 100% and the guys who chose the PGA Tour over LIV. 🇺🇸🏌🏻‍♂️⛳️💪🏻👊🏻

It’s not just golf that’s hurting. They have no free games to watch on the free TV. They always charging everything they can that’s goes for the baseball football. Anything else in sports hockey whatever it’s ruin the whole concept of the plays out there it’s all about the money nowadays it’s not who attends it or not attend it. That’s why they’re not getting the seats filled up and stadiums nowadays are the TV sets ratings are not up. That’s the whole problem in the nutshell.😊

Sounded like he was trying to convince himself of that and he left a ton of wiggle room there at the end saying "I will play the PGA tour for the rest of my career" because he can join LIV, probably with knowledge of the impending merger and know that the strings will eventually be pulled and he will be able to play both LIV and the PGA tour, or the PGA tour will become an umbrella for LIV and then he will technically still be on the "PGA tour"

It would be a shame if he did go to LIV as I enjoy watching him play and would then only see him in the majors - as is the case for Rahm, DJ, De Chambeau, Smith. But if LIV think that spunking a billion or so to hook McIlroy will make their format any more watchable they are mistaken - I’ve tried watching LIV tournaments and just think it’s a load of bollox with the pseudo team stuff and the overall feel. It’s exhibition golf and somehow it’s hollow as a spectacle.

On the PGA you are playing for tradition, history something LIV golf doesn't offer. Once the LIV pros get over their new found wealth playing for money becomes boring really fast.

Doesn't matter what Rory says next week there will be another rumor......... At some point it would be good to get back to golf and all this distraction of LIV/PGA/PIF settled. There is a real danger that spectators just get board and by the time things get resolved the game will have damaged, viewing audiences will be permanently down and nobody will care.....

I have 2977 reasons why I don’t support LIV.

Golf needs to put on its big boy pants and reconcile the decision between tradition of the pga events and golf actually being a world game. As long as the world golf ranking are severely skewered towards the pga events it denies the 'place' of the rest of world. Australian, Sth African, Sth American, Arabian, Japanese, Chinese, European Open and European, Asian and African and Pacific PGA events should be looked at as holding the same status as the Players. Keep the existing majors for what they are and take a much needed step of parity btwn pga events and word events. Two elites groups - USPGA players and World Tour players. World players play World events, Majors and their 'local' pga events. WT players play 2 designated USPGA events (Players and Palmer) USPGa players can play 2 WT events. WT events hold same world ranking as Players with Majors higher. > Best of all words. Elite golf and OWGR cannot continue to be ringfenced within US. New traditions need to be forged with old ones.

Two things on this. Media is so weird these days. You can literally just say Rory going to LIV, many sub par news sources will report that as fact. It gets to the point it just is considered true because the shear volume of "news outlets" reporting it. Even if it's 100% fabricated. Also, it would be absolutely hilarious if this was true and he did go to LIV.

I personally love the rift. One less thing I need to try and watch. Majors mean more so that’s a benefit. Not great for the professional game going forward but that’s no money out of my pocket. So I guess thanks, Phil!

As a 30 something year old newer golfer, LIV and RU-vid golf has been most entertaining to me. These PGA guys making hostage videos with Taylormade and having no creative control is very strange. What Bryson is doing is modern and the right direction and every pro should strive for that freedom
