The turtles are one of my favorite backyard critters. Every now and then I spot one of the little baby turtles in the yard. So cute! Thanks for watching!

The Broadwing had a big lunch, looked like! An extra lovely assortment this week. Rose breasted grosbeak, so cool always. And, we've renamed the Titmouse...the "You Again" bird !😘

The rose breasted grosbeak is so pretty! Of course they are all beautiful. Maybe the hawk is not exactly beautiful but it is majestic.

They’re all beautiful in their own way, but some of them, like the Grosbeaks, sure do stand out and shine! 🙂

The horizontal rock on the left edge of the pond has the texture and appearance of petrified wood. Is it? Little birds don't care, nice perch for them and a smooth side to the water. Very interesting colors on the birds. Olive green and red. The fluff underneath is white, right?

It does look like wood, doesn’t it? But it’s just an interesting rock I found here on the property. I think the fluffy feather underneath are white. Some of these birds are a real patchwork until they get their full set of feathers in.

Titmice must be the cleanest birds 😂 I have two hawks who are regulars in my yard so I keep the feeder close to the cedar tree. It’s a treat to see the grosbeaks, tanagers, and buntings up close. And the turtle! I will have one crossing my yard after a rain, making its way to the creek I assume. I love it. I’m still making my way through your old videos so maybe this will be answered but do you have frogs show up?
@WarblerRidge
@WarblerRidge 4 месяца назад
There is often a frog in residence at the bird pond by mid summer. It shows up sometimes on camera, hanging out in the pool when the birds aren’t around. I keep my feeders close to trees too. That seems to keep them pretty safe. Thanks for watching!

I love box turtles too!! Never saw one rock climbing tho 😄. The Black and White Warbler is another startlingly amazing bird, that I've only seen in my bird book. I was wondering, how far apart are each of the water features? And, could the pond pumps be set up to run on solar? Just thinking. Have a lovely week!! 🥰🌿♥️

The main bird pond is behind the house, on the right corner and the woodland stream is in the opposite side yard, so they’re a little more than a house width apart. lol. That’s not very exact, is it? The concrete baths are in the front yard. The puddle is down on the lower hillside, that’s the further one away. So, basically, there’s water for the birds in three sides of the the house, plus the puddle, which I added because that’s the only large open area I have and I thought it might appeal to a different sort of bird. I think a solar pump might work for a small water feature, like the little original mini pond. It don’t think they have enough power for something larger like the stream or the waterfall at the bird pond.

I love your videos and I am so jealous at the variety of birds you have! I'm hoping to build a tiny pond as you have. I'm scoping out places to put one. No electricity in my yard so I'm searching for a solar powered pump. I'm wondering if you use trail cams or are you using a professional camera to video? Thank you so much for sharing your awesome set up!

Do you have an electric outlet on your porch? I run an extension cord from a porch outlet to power the woodland stream, and run another extension cord under the garage door to power the main bird pond. Not the prettiest option, but works for me. Most of the video clips I use for these RU-vid videos are filmed with GoPro cameras. They are waterproof and their compact size makes them perfect for setting up right next to the water. They are just a few inches away from where the birds bathe (which is why they so often get splashed). The GoPros are not motion activated, though, I let them film for several hours and then see what I get. I also have a motion activated Birdsy Cam permanently set up at the bird pond and several Amazon Blink outdoor security cameras that I can move around to keep an eye on the other water features. The video quality isn’t as good on those but they are excellent for helping me observe what’s going on with the birds and other wildlife. Good luck with your little bird pond. I’m sure your birds will love it!

The June 18, 2023 Sunday Morning Birds video shows an overview of how the bird pond is set up. I don’t have video of it being built because I built it about ten years ago, before I started doing videos. I do have a how to video for a DIY Mini Bird Pond. And I have. DIY Bird Habitat Projects video that shows some of the construction process for the woodland stream. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
