One of the most memorable guitar outros in the history of rock! Smith remains an American guitar god, along with Vince Gill, Joe Walsh, James Burton, Paisley, Carlton, all still playing today!!
John Stewart who wrote this song was a member of the Kingston Trio....they were presented with the first ever Grammy for a Country and Western Song in 1958, something the traditionalists would like to erase.
I had saved this on VHS all those years ago. King's Record Shop had received the Grammy for Country album of the year. Steuart Smith is great on this song and was on the whole set. Great tune. One of those songs that really gets to me
Damn good guitar playing there. I could listen to old country music even without the words, just instrumental were amazingly better sounding back then. Thank God for recordings to be able to hear these songs again and again.
it's funny, we bemoan the use of technology like autotune and digital voice processing, but it's only through technology that we can listen to any music at all. technology and music have always gone hand in hand. back in 1988, people were probably bitching about SOMETHING.
I'll take Blake Shelton and Keith Urban over the drug addicted, hard living old country artists like Waylon, Willie and all those old sinners. Heck, they never wore sequins, rhinestones or even hairspray in their hair!
I listened to this today and the intro gave me chills and flung me back to a time in my past, and for a minute i seriously considered ripping off this 20 year old band-aid, walking out the door and catch a greyhound goin' south
Always liked Roseanne's music, but this show made me a big fan. Best band I've seen her with, best version of this song I've heard. I've worn out my VCR tape, thanks for putting this up!
If you look on RU-vid, you can also find Rosanne singing a cover of her Dad's song "I Still Miss Someone" that not only is an ideal showcase for her beautiful vocals, it will bring a tear (or 10) to your eyes, Tremolux.
Wow, Steuart blew the lid off at the end! I get so tickled at the bias against Steuart by so many on Eagles videos ('cause Felder did get a bad deal); but watch this video and tell me Steuart Smith is not a very talented guitarist with great taste.
hoteljason I was wondering if that was Stuart Smith. Yes, he is a brilliant player and I say that as a huge Eagles fan who loves both Bernie Leadon's and Don Felder's work in that band.
Bernie and Don, wonderful! Smith, very modest, is in a different league! Hope you have seen him early on, with Cash, Colvin, and others! Always more than impressive!
Heard this recently on Sirius XM, went home and found this. Great voice, guitar and drum work. Keith Urban would play the guitar part nowadays with his work.
Loren Johnson The drummer is Vince Santoro, who worked with Steuart Smith in a group called "Babe" early in their careers and with Roseanne and, even more, with her ex Rodney Crowell (and Smith), on albums from the late 80's on. If you want to see Santoro looking a bit different, lsee him with Crowell and Smith on "Let Freedom Ring" or with Crowell on "Telephone Road," both in RU-vid.
I can hear Trisha Yearwood singing this. She did fantastic when she covered “Seven Year Ache”. This song however was made for Rosanne’s voice. It’s absolutely perfect.
