Agreed that Jane's straight to Gildas genius was the other half of the laughs in those bits.. Many times amazingly she just maintained the poker face but there were other facial expressions of impatience, irritation and even perfect disgust toward the end as we all knew Rosanne was going to find a way to completely gross us out. She never let me down. Gold stars to both, hilarious memories

People who down voted are the overly sensitive people who whine about everything. Most of 1970's era TV couldn't be made in today's society. Back then we could make fun of everything, people had a sense of humor. Today too many people have no sense of humor, just a large sense of entitlement.

Seeing how optimistic she was and how her medical team kept up her treatments when they knew it was hopeless, was so tragic. I'm always telling my 21 year old about Roseanne Roseannadana, and how funny she was, and I showed her a couple of the skits. She didn't think any of them were funny, except the one where she was talking about seeing Walter Cronkite and talking to him and she scoots her chair across the floor and it makes a farting sound, and he thinks she farted and she goes on and on about trying to make the chair fart again, but, it won't. My daughter thought that was mildly amusing and cracked a smile. Either we oldies who grew up on this stuff are stupid and have an immature sense of what's funny, or this younger generation has NO sense of humor for good stuff. What my daughter thinks is funny, I don't, and vice versa about 90% of the time.

@@SweetThing Your comment is wrong. Just because she was diagnosed with cancer, it doesn't mean that they didn't have love, happiness, and good times. He had to let her go long before him. It didn't take away the good times they had. He also found a new love in his life. My uncle was drafted to Vietnam in 1968 and married his 1 true love just before he left. She was devastated with his loss. When he was killed in action March 18,1969. They shipped his body home, and he had a open casket. So she knew that it was him. But she refused to date or even think about dating again until the war was over and the POW's release. She ended up finding a new love and had children with him. While she loved her husband, Billy was still very much the 1st love of her life. Eventually, her husband couldn't handle sharing her with a dead man. They went to counseling and she gave my dad all of his photos, metals and his flag. It didn't work very well. He just couldn't deal with it anymore. Then following her divorced, she found a wonderful man that lost his 1st wife as well. So she asked for Billy's things back. Anyway this was the case with these 2. He lost her but while he was in the hell that ended her life. I know that he never stopped loving her. Because of the good and the bad. He wouldn't have wanted her to have been alone during the painful end of her life. Plus these 2 where some of the most funny people on this earth and that alone will make you laugh. That was what they did Laugh through it. They still had more laughter more through the bad times.

Both my husband and I are 60 and we both watched SNL as teenagers. Every time the opportunity comes up in conversation that leads either one of us to say '... I thought I was gonna die ...' we say it in a Rosanne Rosannadana voice. And if the phrase '...never mind...' comes up we say that in an Emily Latilla voice and we both laugh. It is some of that inside humor we share that you can only understand from being a teen in the 70's. And of course there is the '...well excuse me! ..." that you say in a Steve Martin voice. These comedian's gave us true comedy. This was all before political correctness came along and destroyed everything. Another great present from the Clintons. Back then, we laughed at ourselves and were not so sensitive. All ethnicities -- Black, White, Asian, Hispanic, etc., have idiosyncrasies that are funny. It is what makes us human. When you stop laughing at yourself, life becomes dire. Thank you for posting these blasts from the past because you certainly can not find humor today.
