What is Rosh Hashanah and what do Jews do on Rosh Hashanah? In this video I answer your Rosh Hashanah questions as well as tell you how my Rosh Hashanah went in 2020. From the foods we ate to the things we did as a family as well as background on the holiday of Rosh Hashanah itself, you’ll know all about this important Jewish holiday. Shana Tova!
Hello and welcome! My name is Chana, I’m married to my best friend, and together we have three wonderful children together. We also happen to be Orthodox Jews and we homeschool our kids. This vlog is a sneak peek into our daily lives :) You can see how this particular homeschool mom sets up her days, rolls with the punches, and gets it all done. Thanks for watching this day in the life of an Orthodox Jewish homeschooling mom of three!

Of course now that I post, I realize I forgot to tell y'all that we also have the tradition of getting our kids a gift for each major holiday. This year I got my oldest son legos, my daughter received a Ladybug costume, and my youngest son got a super soft PJ Mask blanket. Lots of love on these gifts all holiday too! How did you celebrate Rosh Hashanah this year? Or if its not your thing, what did you think of what we do? :)

Shanah tovah. I'm glad you had a nice holiday. I made the apple coffee cake from your video. Yum!! I love to get new holiday recipes. Thanks. The holiday was pretty chill. I'm also an introvert, so the whole stay at home thing was ok for me too.💗

Hopefully this year you can have more guests. I have never been to a Rosh Hoshanah meal. I love hearing about how orthodox Jewish people live their lives.

Chana, when you first became an Orthodox Jew did you follow the Safarti or the Ashkenazi? Did marriage make you Safarti? (Excuse my spelling.....) 🤨 loves this video!

Hi! Yes, I converted with an Ashkenaz rabbi in an Ashkenaz community, so I followed Ashkenaz customs. But as soon as I got engaged to a sefardi man, my rabbi said now I was sefardi :)

The primary reason we don't blow the shofar Rosh Hashanah is that someone might inadvertanly carry the shofar on Shabbos, which of course, that is not allowed of there is no eiruv. Additionly, the shofar was blown on Shabbos Rosh Hashanah in the Bais Hamikdash/ Temple so the chachomim/Sages forbade to do it since the churban/destruction that we should remember what we are missing. Interestingly, that's why we shake the lulav a whole succos, because in the time of bais hamikdash, we only shook it the first day.

The "head of the year" is 1 Abib (19 March) PER TORAH! Zichron Teru'ah occurs on 18 September per the Enochian calendar rediscovered among the Dead Sea Scrolls. #ZichronTeruah #ShemaYisrael

Great video, as always! I have a burning question ..I am a Christian and I believe that the people of Israel are truly God's chose people because that is where God chose for His son, Jesus, to be born. If the Jews do not believe this, what makes them feel as if they are God's chosen people? TIA for the reply!

Did u know that Karaite Jews (that follow bible soley and not talmud or written bible) do not see it as Jewish New year and rather just the feast of rejoicing, they do not blow shofar thought was interesting though i myself also am rabbinic jewish ☺️
