It’s a brilliant machine, I’ve used it for the past 3months solid, the 4mm is kind of like the bishop packer but at a fraction of the price. Needs a larger grip though 🤙
I’ve been using the 3.2 machine for most of the year now and it’s fantastic. I was genuinely surprised how versatile the 3.2 cam was for various styles from packing to stipple work. I’ve just bought the 4mm cam in the last fortnight and dropped that in to try out. If you like a little more needle hang then you’ll probably prefer the 4mm. I’ve left my Bishop Packer in the drawer since I’ve had it.
What about the ambition line like the torped or the cnc like like the q2, or sorry but I just ordered it it’s a dragonhawk x5 any opinions and then like I said before I can’t line good do you recommend a certain like 7rs or a 9RL
Hey! Great video, thank you for sharing it! I’ve got mine out of curiosity based on the mentions/recommendations of the brand in the podcast and really enjoy using it! I actually love it’s shape and design. When I wrapped it for the first time I honestly understood the difference in a machine designed by a tattoo artist. So simple yet functional. A couple of questions… 1. Would you say you need to completely take it apart after every use? Of course only using carts with a safety membrane and using a plastic film barrier. I have been doing so but it actually seems super safe and almost unnecessary to take apart from the top? 2. Would you say you had to lube it a bit more often than with other pen machines? Don’t know if its just me/the way I wrap it.
@stabbysean4895 kind of but there is differences be done to it on the gen 1, its a but weightier, has a different motor and different digital control. Loads of similar features but not as heavy on yhe pocket. They are about to release the gen 2 which is redesigned but I've nothing but good things to say about my gen 1 machine its great.
I’m thinking of swapping from a regular rotary works slim line machine, how do pens work in regard to grips, do they have a built in grip for carts or do I need to purchase disposable grips alongside it?

Honestly I wouldn’t touch them. The main body and batteries are just cheap copies of Fk irons machines with a custom engraving, you can buy them off ali express. Allegedly they have different motors in them but there’s little evidence to show this to be true. There is no website with any information such as CE certification on the batteries etc so you don’t know if the electronics are safe. From what I’ve seen, the company has only been a limited company since March 2023 so it’s not reputable company. Other than selling rebranded ali express machines im not seeing any evidence of the company being a “machine manufacturer” In my personal opinion. Machines like these are one of the many reasons tattoo machines from big brands have gone up in price. They make a machine and companies will reverse engineer the “cosmetic” aspect of it then sell them cheap. Buying machines such as these do not support the tattoo industry and they are also stealing peoples IP. I wouldn’t review or use them personally as I wouldn’t want to promote copyright infringement and be part of the problem with increased machine costs. Chris
I mean it sounds like we’re making bank in the USA until you see our taxes and living expenses. Artists in the UK in the end actually gave a bigger past bills take-home. $500 for oil per month, $300 electric per month, $1,000 mortgage/$1,350 rent, $300-$600 car, $450-$600 student loan, $170/week for food for two people (and it doesn’t buy much) and so on. Living here is basically b.s. 🤷🏽
Oh for sure some artists make bank in the states in comparison to the UK, equally in certain areas of the UK the cost of living is fairly comparable to what you have listed minus the student loan and having to pay medical some areas it’s higher. Just comparing with myself per month… car payments insurance and travelling costs to get to work is around $1,000, rent for a home would be $1250, gas and electric around $250 food for two people would be around the same $170 per week this isn’t taking into consideration things like home insurance, internet, streaming services and then the rent and bills for a tattoo studio. Taxes also, once you are hitting and certain threshold then you are into 40% tax and then you are going into paying VAT which means you either have to add an additional 20% to what you charge which goes to the tax man or you keep your pricing the same and take the hit. I charge a fraction of what some artists charge per day in the states, so in comparison when i see artists charging 3,000 usd per day it’s wild especially when some of their work is sub par. I know the 3,000usd is a generalisation and not everyone charges that much. But on average that’s the pricing im seeing. Even the other day I saw someone charge $27,000 for an black and grey sleeve which was basic at best, to compare. In the Uk that would have cost on average around $8400. Chris :)
Bro you can’t clean any part of this machine completely by gently whipping it with cide. Unless you can uotrasonic it in chemicals before the autoclave it’s not even close to clean.
Bro, after talking to a professional that works in the health industry and specialises in infectious diseases and IPC I’ve discovered. You can clean it if you use the correct procedure and the correct products. If a machine has a sufficient barrier and you handle things in a manner that prevents cross contamination, use membrane carts etc then there shouldn’t be any contaminants inside the machine. There are more containments on a traditional coil machine or rotary with standard needle and bars, even if you bag them pathogens become airborne and go up into the bag contaminating the machine. Using a hospital grade disinfectant to mechanically clean any dirt etc of the machine is only the first step, then cleaning with alcohol is the second. Putting something in an autoclave makes it sterile. Being sterile and visually clean are two different things altogether. The only part that needs to be sterile is the piece that makes direct contact with broken skin. In the case of traditional needles on bar it’s the whole needle and grip. If it’s pen machines the only piece that makes direct contact with broken skin is the cartridge. Therefore making sure it’s visually clean and using appropriate barrier, correct membrane cartridge and handling you equipment appropriately is sufficient. According to medical professionals our procedure is clinically clean at best, not sterile. Safety cartridges are design in such a way that you won’t get internal contamination if you as an artists are following basic IPC procedures and making sure your personal hygiene is on top. What needs to happen in this industry is further education on infection and control procedure. As it stands people are adopting procedures that are for standard needle on bar and putting it to more modern practices rather than educating themselves on IPC procedures. I’ve been doing a lot of research and studying over the last few months to further my education on IPC and I’m very confident that you don’t “need” to autoclave a grip for a pen machine if you are following the correct procedures for IPC. Same goes for the use of cling film on your work stations, people wrap work stations in cling film and that whole protecting the work top from contamination, also introduces further contamination to the room by causing bacteria to become airborne when stripping it all down. Not to mention… we use, non sterile ink caps, non sterile gloves, non sterile lap cloths, non sterile tongue depressors, take out cream out of jars not using single use sachets. People wear long sleeve tops, denim aprons, watches and rings also. So saying you can’t clean a machine unless you autoclave it is an example of how uneducated our industry is on IPC procedure. Like how many people strip down their coil machines after every tattoo in order to make sure it’s decontaminated? No one I bet. How many people autoclave the frames of their coil machines after tattooing? None. So yes, you can make sure any part of this machine is visually clean and decontaminated if using the correct IPC procedure.

Hand built perfectly running and hitting tattoo machines are 3 to 600 bucks but a mass produced vibrator that can’t lay a solid line to save its life a 1000bucks. Worlds gone mad.

A built on grip so to speak. The engraved part of this machine serves as the grip. You insert carts into the machine there. You would bag/wrap the pen and use grip tape as required.
