Developing for the military, it had to happen. We spoke about it when Fatshark were bought. I guess you can't sit on a fence and I have to agree with Ian on this one.
Interesting take. You brought up a lot of things I've noticed too. Like the Flitetest techniques and materials. Dead obvious. I wonder if they buy the foam direct from Readi-Board. Somehow, I can't see Flitetest selling it for this purpose. Equipment from many companies is being used for killer drones in Ukraine. They have to buy it somewhere. Rotor Riot has likely been one of those retailers already so it is perplexing why they decided to start assembling parts for military purposes when others are very capable of doing that. Just seems stupid and a great way to alienate yourself from the hobby. As you allude, it probably won't be a money maker for them. So in their attempt to have their cake and eat it too, they may end up with cracker crumbs. But the cat was out of the bag the second Ukrainian citizens started building killer drones. While we all want to see Ukraine prevail and applaud their ingenuity, the repercussions for our hobby will be deep and far reaching.
We do indeed want Ukraine to prevail and I am sure they source their own foamboard for the Corvo. I guess it was the military vendors that just didn't keep paying enough attention to what was going on in the hobby.
Can't post the link to my comment below but it's easy to find, "sUAS Lawrence Tougas for AMA president, just say no". Not very subtle, eh. Can't post the other link either to AMA president Rich Hanson's semi-incoherent 2018 op-ed in The Hill that effectively ended any support for AMA and RC flying from lawmakers, resulting in the repeal of the model aircraft exemption Section 336 later that year. That one can be found by the title, "Punish rogue recreational drone pilots - not the rule followers", for anyone interested in that train wreck. Hanson's rambling piece to the world was his fantasy that his interpretation of the law trumped the FAA's, namely that anyone not flying under Part 107 was required to join AMA and pay $75 per year for the privilege - Oh what a retirement package that would have been!! Wrong move. The FAA simply had Congress repeal Sec. 336 and then took over the hobby. So you droners lamenting this latest letdown with drones being associated with killing (Drones are military-grade hardware? Ya think?), along with all the rest, sorry not sorry. The model aircraft hobby once had an exemption from the FAA. Drones and FPV ended it, albeit with help from AMA. Read Lawrence Tougas' statement in the sUAS article as to why. Those are the receipts, Gary.
@@Fpvpro1 if people bought from getfpv, rdq, dji (amung others) the last few years but now want boycott rotor riot, they are a hypocrite. Boycotting rotor riot is retarded and only hurts the people that work for them.
What I find funny is all these losers with Ukraine flags in their bio if they really wanted to help they would send drones, care packages, etc but we don’t. It’s all about pretending to care whilst not caring at all. I’m buying nothing but Rotor Riot at this point because of military application. Civil war is probably coming and you’re way waging about Rotor Riot. 🤦🏼♂️
I really respect your integrity and honesty! But I have to ask, did you also asked DJI to stop working with kids? did you ask Boeing to stop? how about Ford/Mercedes? they all are huge defense companies... and many more. Most of the tech we are using originated from military applications (e.g Lasers). BTW, I never liked Rotor Riot regardless... they stopped being a "real" FPV company years ago.
