This video has a brief overview of the A600 Phoenix Turbo Helicopter and the actual demo flight for the new owner. Location South Alabama late January 2022.
It was really considerate of the Owner Pilot to allow the video to be shown, and its appreciated. I am particularly impressed with the thoroughness, calming and encouraging manner of the Instructor Pilot, and the radio update transmissions. Gentle guidance, advice, and communication was outstanding, and a real pleasure to see. I'm very pleased to have found this channel and to have subscribed.
Mark, Great video. It was amazing to fly with you a few months ago and I can't wait to see you at the next get-together. My kit arrives in a month and I can't wait to get started!
Love this vid. Reminded me of my instructor when I learned to fly a helo 40 years ago. Excellent training technique! Hovering was so hard at first, but then something clicked, I settled down and became a hover lover for life.
Your instruction technique reminds me of an instructor I had MANY years ago 🙂 I soloed(fixed wing) 08-08-1968 if that gives you an indication of my age 🙂
Mark, I have a new A600 on order, first deliver is set for May. I purchased it sight unseen after watching videos here on RU-vid. Seeing that you have a new model, it would be great to see a thorough walkthrough video of the ship, glass cockpit, and any tips or tricks used during the build. I’m running out of videos to watch, lol Thanks much, I really enjoyed this video and could spend hours watching them
I wish somebody made a decent (semi) fully articulated rotor system on these UL helicopters...profit margins and sacrificing safety should not be the answer...
i visited Rotorway and flew an A600 in the spring of 2019. The price then was around $108K. I was ready to buy in early 2020 and when I checked the price it had jumped to $150k which was above my budget which was tight at 108K. So, I switched gears and bought a RANS S-21 kit. Then a year or so later, the kit price was back down to closer to 100K again. Oh well, I’m having great fun building the S-21 even though it will take much longer to build than an A600.
please use a painted square in the grass so that the trainees can use as reference when practicing the landing approach, with and open fild like that with no point of reference is kind of receiving.
I heard you say you were hovering about Altimeter pressure 31 in, and that was your takeoff and climb power for a normal takeoff. About how much more power did you need to do the max performance takeoff?
The turbo powerplant allows for a maximum of 40 inches of manifold pressure. Typically, at gross weight the helicopter will require 29 to 31 inches to hover. The maximum performance in this video used 35 inches for the departure. The turbo boost is 2 to 3 PSI.
Thats the point. Some people may like the style of piloting the helo, some the classic look. Not everyone is embracing the "new" technologies and as a matter of fact some detest the rush to change everything and the "out with the old and in with the new" mentality.
@@AirMark thanks, I didn’t realize this was the same RU-vid channel that posted from Lebanon, TN in the other video. Where is your home station, Florida? Asking to find a RotorX certified instructor pilot nearby. I’m in North, MS.
Yes, the airframe is retired at 2000 hours. To my knowledge, I do not know of an RotorWay airframe that has accumulated that many hours. I have heard one the factory trainers around 2003 was nearing 1800 hours. I never heard after that if it went to 2000. In addition, I do not know of any RotorWay owner who has passed 1000 hours, except for my personal helicopter. It is now just over 1100 hours after 20 years. We need to understand a personal helicopter such as the RotorWay flown for flight training and sport flying will not accumulate flight hours like a personal fixed wing airplane. Most RotorWay owners after they have completed their flight training will fly 30 to 50 hours a year. So 2000 hours is a long time.
Looks like that helicopter is VERY shaking and unstable / uncomfortable to fly in?? It looks amazing, definitely my favorite 2 seater when it comes to looks, but when I hear this man's voice it sounds like he's been held and shaken by Arnold Schwarzenegger while he's talking??? Is it really as bad as it seems?
is the "Experimental" label required for these types of experimental aircraft ? it has such a negative connotation for the public that reads it and doesn't know the exact meaning...ie...[its not a real aircraft/helicopter bacause its only built as an experiment]....type of interpretaion by the general public.
No matter camera anghel !! It’s a small box hard to enjoy to operate…. Unless you’re 5 feet tall. Or less. Yea is cheaper. But how about safer ?? Like r 22. Crapy.
All you do is go up hover for 5 min. And refuel again. Repeat that till time tbo is up …. Just not there yet. Nobody has the guts to take it like 1500 ft up or 2000. For a say 100 mi distance ?? No way. It stays in you garage and admire. Hmm.
Your waisting time. Money. People are impressed. Nu really is so different. That toy kills. Simple the quality of moving part mechanically it’s a joke ., expensive as hell. Can’t compare with real deal…. All that unit should not cost more than 10 k. Out the door installed fly ready …
