I feel especially lucky. When I had to put my rottie down a few months ago she was 15. I knew how amazing that was for her breed especially as we adopted her from the shelter and didn’t know her family health history. Unfortunately we found bone cancer but she lived a great, long life. Still miss her.

Rotties caught my attention early. I enjoy the fact that they are both brawn & brain. Always alert. But what I enjoy is that their comical.

@jasonjames6870 Год назад
@@alexhendry9440 same applies if you own a pug and a loose doberman attacks your dog. My first dog was a rescue Pitbull, and with correct training and a loving home he was a perfect first dog. The key is education and not holding breed prejudice. Jack Russell terriers have killed children in the past, probably from lazy advice like yours. If you want any dog it should be your responsibility to educate yourself not the dogs responsibility. The breed should be chosen simply on matching lifestyle and others energy in the house
@alexhendry9440
@alexhendry9440 Год назад
@@jasonjames6870 I agree doing research is important, however it can’t fully replace hands on experience, there are a lot of mistakes that can be made from people because they either didn’t see everything or thought it would be easier to do soemthing then it actuall is, E.g. recall training especially with things like RU-vid videos or tiktoks where creators don’t show the full process of training and cram it all into a 5 minute video making it look much easier then it is, potentially giving people false confidence

Just a quick question. Why it best to dock the tail of the dog?
@isabellagust6305
@isabellagust6305 3 года назад
@@stephenclark8662 it isn't. The only reason for me would be if they work with the dog for hunting and similar things with a high risk for tail injury but in modern days people cut it of for looks and because the dog won't knock things of your coffee table with it on accident. I prefer them with tails.

@@isabellagust6305 I agree if it damages the dog to hunt with the tail I can understand but otherwise it seems shallow and superficial and just screams lack of self confidence by the owner to have a rottie with a docked tail. Just going for the tough guy look.

Kind of funny, but killing our sleep. We also have guests in a adjacent house who have been woken up by our knuckleheads. Thanks!

Dobermans are more trainable and have a higher obedience level..they also take to bite work better than almost any breed and are extremely leary of strangers and need strong training because they will protect you when you might not need it like when hugging a family member so this needs to be grasped early on so they engage when you want them to..

@isabellagust6305
@isabellagust6305 3 года назад
If you are informing yourself and focus on training and socializing him you can do it. You just have to know that he is a lot of work (more than some other dogs) and you have to put that in.
@1packatak
@1packatak 3 года назад
It is not just socializing, it is training your Rott. He/she needs manors, rules and boundaries. You need to be his leader, his provider, his companion. It is not just to make them livable in your home, but to make them a wonderful example of the breed.

Dobermans are fucking smart. I taught our doberman (as an adult dog) how to shake paw in one day. Literally, the next day he did it on command the first time I asked. You can teach an old dog new tricks if they are a doberman (or maybe ours was just a genius or something).

If you train and socialize your dog, you should not have to worry about dog-dog aggression. All of my Rottweilers were very good with other well-behaved dogs. But all of them stood their ground with an aggressive, out of control dogs.

I got so scared of pulling that i almost completly stopped taking him on walks, but lately i found out about prong collars and I've done over 10 hrs of researche on them and realized they are very useful tool in right hands. So, will it be able to teach my Rottie how to walk normally or is it too late?

@@isabellagust6305 a properly fitted and used prong/pinch collar will NOT hurt or injure a dog. I was taught to only use Herm Sprenger prong collars. Excellent quality. German made. I was also taught by an experienced trainer how to size and use the prong for training my dogs. If you think they hurt, you have never seen my Rotts do the happy dance when I get their collars out to go for a walk or work. Same thing with electronic training collars. You need to buy a quality one (usually run around $250+ in US dollars). And have an experienced trainer show you how to use them. Same thing, my Rotts know ecollar means we are going out in the field to run and the happy dance ensues.

Docking should be illegal in the US, anybody buying or adopting a dog to make it "look badass" by chopping off body parts shouldn't even have a fucking dog... animals are about love, not a fucking fashion accessory...
