Thanks for this video! I was lucky to grow up with rottweilers. This is indeed, in my opinion, the best dog....but certainly not for everyone. Thank you for making this very clear. Keep u the good work..cheers!
First rottie was from puppy mill. Still easy to potty train. 2nd rottie ,and the well bred rottie same,easy. Last rottie for me is about 8 months old Breeder must be a POS but we're working on it. He had/worms when we got him soo it's taking a little longer with this guy
They're great dogs if you take the time to work with them on a regular basis. They are great family dogs as well, again, if you work with them regularly. Our males are usually in the 120-130 pound range but we did have one gentle giant at 250 pounds. My son used to ride him around the back yard, when the dog got tired he'd just sit down. My son would use him like a bean bag, lean against him with his gameboy for hours. We never had to worry about getting robbed or hassled. They aren't for everyone but if you are willing to invest the time and energy they are great dogs.
It’s crazy how I did the third one myself without knowing this and it really works i always send my big girl Rottweiler to bed every time I need her to and she will listen every time very good tip ❤
Got a Rottie at 6 weeks old after his mom rejected her puppies 😢 now he’s 11 weeks and the sweetest boy. Only issue is, he resource guards his food. Growls and even barks (never bites). Other than that, he doesn’t even bark and is basically a Velcro dog. Makes me sad because he’s such a sweet pup. Hate that he doesn’t feel trust, but I’m dedicated to getting him better. I am so glad to stumble across this video. I am preparing for 2 rottweiler puppies next year, and I want to get my budget together now for insurance cost, food cost etc. before jumping into being an owner again.
I own 5 rotties at the moment. I never used a crate till this day, my oldest dog is nearly ten (decembre). Yes as puppy they will chew your stuff. However doing number one or two in the house of-course does not happen. My dogs can walk threw the entire houde and the entire house and yard is there crate ;).
Thinking about getting a new puppy in a few months. But before I do, I am committed to studying the breed the most I can training, food and diet, exercise needs, budget, etc) to know what to expect ahead of time. Thank you for this.
Love your channel, watching loads of your videos but you have definitely made me think twice about rescuing a 2 year old rottie cross German shepherd, apparently it’s a very friendly family pet but the owner now works away from home 5 months of the year and the dog either needs a long term foster parent or new forever home. My only real concern is my daughter, she is 20 years old but is autistic and has bpd and has a meltdowns regularly, (gets very upset and cry’s and sometimes screams) maybe once a week or so. Now I’m thinking maybe I should rethink my choice into fostering the dog or not, what are your thoughts?
They ARE SOOO SMART, training is fun an A must, keep them fun luving Because they are A guard dog when it comes down to doing there job.. on my 2 one an she's on hand signals, an verbal commands... did I SAY THE ARE Beyound Intelligent....
Involve your kids. I let our 2 year old boss him around. Love him up. Encourage hugs and kisses. Do things like throw steak in front of him and tell him to wait until the release command. Make him work for everything and you will have the best dog ever conceived
Can't figure out how to DM you. I have a serious question and need YOUR input (not that of every "expert" reading this comment). It's for sum1 of YOUR level. I've bred and raised plenty of "game dogs" but I always come to one issue. How do I hit you up, privately?
Socializing is important but training is key. It's not difficult. Love and time for minimum 2 years.your not buying a dog your buying a baby. If you don't have 4-6 hours a day and patients to put into your new baby you shouldn't buy one.
I've heard this from people who have raised, trained, bred, and shown champion Rottweilers. You HAVE to socialilze them. Pull up Dogs 101 The Rottweiler. You have to know what you are doing. Someone bought a Rottleier and would not let anyone pet him. He isolated him. When he hit him on the back you could hear it from 50 feet away as he yelled at him. Every time he walked that Rottweiler the dog's head hung down, a clear sign his spirit was broken, he was afraid, and had no life left in him. He bit a child. The fault was not the dog's. It was the owner's. There was no choice left but ethuanasia. He was six years old.
Have had 3 of my own Rottweilers over the years but they MUST be properly trained otherwise you're going to have problems. They can be headstrong but love and the correct training youve got a jewel.
I doubt I get a reply for this. But like…what do I do during sleeping hours? I can handle the hour on the hour more or less because I live with someone. But we do both need SOME sleep. How do I handle that? Does that go into the kennel training? (Asking pre emptively as I get pupper next week)
