Thank you for the video. Was thinking of this ball joints but was not sure. I have a 2016 jk Sahara with 285/70s. I want to beef up the front end before I go with bigger tires. My last jeep was a 2012 Sahara with 35's. I would always have problems with the front end to include death wobble.

@JeepTrailsandBarbells Месяц назад
@@JuanHernandez-bv1gu so if death wobble is a issue I’m going to list off what you need to check and replace to fix’s it 100% Tire balance Track bar bushings Lower control arm bushings Upper control are bushings Ball joints Drag link Tie rod Sway bar bushings Go in that order and you will find your issue, you can also do everything on that list yourself for pretty cheap actually and your death wobble won’t be an issue for years. I know this because I have fixed many many many jeeps that have had death wobble. But the RC ball joints are amazing, but if you can afford it. I would do the American iron ball joint deletes. They have been amazing on my rig. They ride a little weird until they brake in. But it’s worth it

Great video. I appreciate the short and to the point info. We're taking our JK from 35's to 37's and we were unsure about going with the RC ball joints, but I think it's going to work fine for us.

You are welcome, and they are really good, we just got back from a wheeling all weekend. And they are still holding up great.

Top and bottom are splined. Just went and picked some up today as a matter of fact. Sittin here puttin them in and figured I’d RU-vid them while lettin some paint dry. I’ve personally never ran them but luckily I live in Dyersburg where rough country is. I got a couple buddy’s who run them on their jeeps and we all run 35s and are hard on our rigs. Glad to know you run a bigger tire and the hold up well. Keep on wheelin ol son
@JeepTrailsandBarbells
@JeepTrailsandBarbells Год назад
Yeah, we have been putting them through the ringer for sure, and good info on the splines, i couldn't quite remember, to be honest. And you're going to like them. They made a night and day difference for the JK on 38s it really stiffened up the front end for sure.

I definitely needed new ball joints. I also bought a new track bar but it’s on back order told me it should be in by next Tuesday. I’m sure hoping so. We got a ride coming up in a couple weeks at turkey bay
@JeepTrailsandBarbells
@JeepTrailsandBarbells Год назад
@CD Yeah, it sucks when things are backed ordered, i had to wait 6 weeks for my drive shaft. But it was worth the wait. Hopefully, it comes in, i just re did all my steering linkage, but the Pitman arm side drag link was also on back order. That's cool You're going to turkey bay, its on our list, but im just not sure when we will be able to make it out there. We have a trip planned for Missouri though.

I just upgraded my steering with the rough country hd steering kit. It’s super beefy. Where y’all going in Mo? I’m from northwest TN

@JeepTrailsandBarbells Год назад
@CD Yeah, i have it on my TJ and love it. We will be going to Southern Missouri off-road ranch. It's 700 miles from us, so it's about 12 hours, 14 with stopping for gas and slow going jeeps 🤣
@jasoncolemanarizonaloanoff1574
Just purchased these after doing reseach. Bought a 15 Jku and tested it on s9me washboard roads Heard clunking metal to metal and figured this could be the only possible reason. 35" tires on a 3.5 RC lift. New shocks N3 just installed and had this sounds on the shock test. Hopefully this solves the issue We only plan on light duty offroading. Our SXS is what we punish 🤪
@JeepTrailsandBarbells
@JeepTrailsandBarbells Год назад
They have held up well for us for sure. They are worth the money and make a big difference. We have beat the hell out of them on 38s, so you will be just fine on 35s. Lol, that's the goal, to have a play rig that you can just put afterwards. and you dont need to worry about if you broke something or not 🤣🤣
@jasoncolemanarizonaloanoff1574
@@JeepTrailsandBarbells Good to hear. My buddy who is installing them said they looked just like Autozone quality but the reviews have been good on RC ball Joints. I think I have one stock bj blown so replacing all 4.

@Phillip Rollman yeah i feel you on that lol. It's not the funnest thing to do 🤣 A tip to help you get them in easier is put the ball joints in the freezer for an hour or 2, even overnight works. Then before you get it out the freezer and press it in, head up the C with a torch just until its warm to the touch but not enough to burn you, and it should press in really easy. That trick always works for me, but you have to be fast and have all your stuff ready to go. But only pull 1 ball joint out the freezer at a time. Hope this helps if you didn't already know about it, that is, or do it. Happy wrenching my friend, and good luck.

What’s up brother quick question I’ve replaced my ball joints about 2 times on my 2014 jk already but they’re non knurled I’m really thinking about going with the rough country ones but they only have knurled ones what’s your opinion about switching to knurled ball joints? Or should I just stay with the teraflex non knurled ones ? It’s already my 2nd set of these and it seems like they don’t last as long
@JeepTrailsandBarbells
@JeepTrailsandBarbells 2 месяца назад
@@josuemartinezmtz if it was my jeep I would go with American iron ball joint deletes. I put them in my TJ, and when I need new ones for the JK I’m going to put them in that as well. The RC have been absolutely amazing and I just installed my second set 2 months ago. But I just love the way the deletes work and handle. It eliminated 100% of my issues on my TJ with front it “wobble” and they have been holding up to a lot of abuse as well.

@@JeepTrailsandBarbells thank you for the reply I heard about those but dropping 500$ plus labor is out of my budget at the moment I’ll most likely go with rough country your video really helped me out with the decision Would you think the knurled ball joints eventually ruin the knuckle hole ? After alot of use ? Or should I rather stick with a non knurled BJ
@JeepTrailsandBarbells
@JeepTrailsandBarbells 2 месяца назад
@@josuemartinezmtz I honestly don’t think you have anything to worry about, the knurling didn’t effect mine at all when I changed them out. And I completely understand the issue about cost. The RC is definitely the way to go. And as far as labor goes, I forget a lot of people don’t do their own work. I highly recommend you give it a try to do it yourself, you might find out it’s a lot easier than you think to do yourself.

Any advice on grinding out (lowers??) so you can grease them? Thanks
@JeepTrailsandBarbells
@JeepTrailsandBarbells 8 месяцев назад
Get a burr bit, they make different kinds. So a cone burr bit would best. Its basically a file that you can put in your drill and take your time grinding out the room for the zerk

Im having the same issue when I hit a bump on the road kinda wobbles so ball joints might help with that huh thanks
@JeepTrailsandBarbells
@JeepTrailsandBarbells Год назад
Yes, they will help out a lot, but also check your tires and make sure they are not out of balance or chopped. That could also cause it as well. Along with worn-out control arm bushing, tie rod ends, drag link ends, track bar bushing. But for the most part, if the ball joints are worn out, they can make the front end feel loose and wobbly and throw your alignment off as well.

Hello thanks for the info, based on your review i purchased this ball joint from rough country and the new upper ball joint have up and down movement , I contacted RC and they send me replacement also the replacement have up and down play do you think is it normal?
@JeepTrailsandBarbells
@JeepTrailsandBarbells Год назад
The upper ball joints on mine did have some up and down play, but once i installed them and torqued them down, it has never been an issue. No play or slop, no clunky noise or anything either.

@@JeepTrailsandBarbells thanks for the clarification , when they send me replacement with up and down play i were confused the lower one is firm .
@JeepTrailsandBarbells
@JeepTrailsandBarbells Год назад
@dagnachewdesta3336 Yeah, the lowers won't move at all up and down, but it will swivel in a 360-degree plane. The uppers will rotate with a little up and down movement. But once they are installed, that up and down goes away. Ima glad this was helpful and happy wrenching.
@matrixbikes
@matrixbikes 6 месяцев назад
It must move up and down, that's how it will tighten and lines up with the knuckle. Every upper Jeep ball joint do that.

If you are running bigger tires, im going to have to say yes, moog is a good brand, but the HD rough country ones hold up better. As far as my experience goes with them.
