Made a very accurate and solid Router Table Jointer with 80/20 aluminum extrusions - the only problem was the 'flat' edge of the extruded profile was actually curved!

Thanks for doing the fence video. Evidently it hasn't published yet. Maybe later today it will be up on youtube. I look forward to viewing.

Great idea, Hope they sort out the materials for you.

Haha no they didn't - I explained the situation and sent them the video and 80/20 left me out in the cold ( a little more complicated than that but basically)

@@acanadianwoodworkerDo the t nuts on the back sides distort the extrusions?
@acanadianwoodworker
@acanadianwoodworker 5 лет назад
@@heyimamaker no they don't - if you don't go crazy wrenching them down. One weird quirk with 80/20 is if you really torque the t-bolts it can introduce flex. So you just tighten them down lightly. I've found this whole thing to be extremely straight, checking it a good straightedge it didn't seem to go off straightness more than .001. Or, if you happen to be talking about that 'curve effect on the flat side, no that's (What Ive found out) is a manufacturing error due to the cooling process.

I like your videos and the shop is maticulous. I wonder if you could go over in detail the fence for your Dewalt table saw. I have the 7491 Dewalt and have never been in love with the short, thin & flexible aluminum fence. It's a popular saw so I would think others would be interested as well. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the nice comments Phil! Yes that's a great idea for a short video - covering the 80/20 fence add-on I use for the Dewalt. It's easy to install and adds a lot of usability to the existing fence. I'll try to do that next

You could try a profile from misumi usa. When ordering they give you an option to have closed t tracks as well as 2 milled faces.

Wow I didn't know Misumi had a US outlet - I'll look it up! I watch a lot of JSK Kuobo videos on YT, and he always gets his extrusions and linear stuff from Misumi in Japan, and the quality looks incredible. Thanks for the tip!

Pardon me for my ignorance, but why is it that you used the 1530 for the base? Is the 3075 not strong enough by itself to not flex over that span?
@acanadianwoodworker
@acanadianwoodworker 5 лет назад
Yes exactly, the 3075 is a bit too weak for a 4' span with no flex. Even with the 3075 and 1530 stacked on top of each other you still get a very small middle deflection (I think its .002 in the video).

Do you know about Pat warner the router guy? He kind of fits your style. He wrote a guide called routing to .001. his website is now down because he passed but it is available on the internet archive.

Can I ask why you've titled this using the term 80/20 when it appears none of the extrusions you've used are in fact 80/20s?
@acanadianwoodworker
@acanadianwoodworker 4 года назад
80/20 is the company name that produces the extrusion profiles. Very unhelpful bunch of lumps
@TheDrewker
@TheDrewker 4 года назад
What do you mean? It's there on the back side of the fence, 1530 extrusion. I'm not sure what the smooth face is or if you can get profiles like that.
