Sara Brown's haunting vocal and Chris Spedding's rich, bluesy guitar riff certainly added depth and extra dimension to a beautiful song, which was made possible very much under Bryan's wings . A great performance by all . Thanks for uploading.
This is my all-around favorite version, and I happen to love Chris Spedding mixed in. Bryan is clearly happy- I think he likes what he's hearing too. Gorgeous.

Just think. Here's a band that's been around 40+ plus years and received relatively little airplay (Love is the Drug excepted) yet, even now, they can sell out just about any venue in any city in the world. That's what you get when you're truly invested in your music for it's own sake. .

There's more to Roxy Music than Mr. Bryan Ferry, what about their guitarist, Phil Manzanera(sic), or their sax player Andy, they mesh but yes I am a big fan of solo Bryan Ferry, keep them pipes working, from the Great White North, the Snamon!
Great song. I find it interesting how much interconnection there is between Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry and David Gilmour. Which I guess is no surprise this song conjures up thoughts of Great Gig in the Sky and Clare Torry

I was hoping the Bryan would play My Only Love at Bluesfest in Ottawa on July 17th but he had a time constraint of 1 hour and 15 min.. Best song at the concert there was Oh Yeah

@aaszx1 chris spedding is NOT a bad guitarist, just has a different style than Manzanera. Chris played in early seventies with Jack Bruce, so he is definitely not a hack.
This song holds such deep meaning too me..I play it over and over..absolutely amazing. Roxy Music is jazz..rock..classical...it's the entire package and Bryan Ferry is extremely gifted. I had my first real crush on Ferry back in 85 and he still mesmerizes me. Eno and Ferry together in the early days were absolutely incredible.

Perhaps you are only familiar with Mick Fleetwood's pop stuff? Perhaps you could give the Live album a listen so you could see how Mick can control and contour a song in much the same way Andy does. Then maybe you should check out Mick's solo album The Visitor. Mick has the ability to drive a song like few others. Mick is truly a driving force when it comes to drumming. Always clean, always on target, always driving. There is a reason Peter green chose Mick for the job in Fleetwood Mac.
The important thing about the drummer is; do you enjoy listening to the drums, or are they obnoxious? Here, we anticipate and enjoy the jazzy offbeats as part of this deeply romantic, passionate ensemble. Bryan Ferry and Roxy at their best! The drums compliment, but never get in the way.

this is a superb live piece for sure, however for me the live versions of this song never captured the real emotion of the album version. I remember as a lonely teenager loving the rich textures and gorgous lyrics of the song but the beautiful ending had the power to leave me feeling emotionally gutted and emtpy like only Roxy had the power to do, the live versions seem to go 'bigger' and more triamphant at the end.
