The Best Of Roy Clark (album) - Roy Clark
audio CD: amzn.to/2ZWfc4m
MP3 download: amzn.to/2ZWxS3K
(please note: unfortunately "The Best Of Roy Clark" album does not include either "Alabama Jubilee" or "Flop Eared Mule")
Roy Clark performs "Alabama Jubilee" and immediately follows with "Flop Eared Mule".
Porter, Dolly, and the audience all watch as he playfully sets out to prove he'll not be outdone on the guitar. Turns out, he never is.

Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, Joe Maphis, Roy Clark, Danny Gatton, Roy Acuff... All talented. I'm not as familiar with Acuff's music, I don't think he was as guitar-based, but I enjoyed what I heard of him.
@strategygaming5830

@@tonytotten408 chet atkins was a very clean player as he would play a song perfectly as to how it was written but roy clark would play the living soul of a song and take it to where it never had been seen before. The best example of this is the difference in between the videos of Chet atkins playing Malaguena and when Roy Clark played Malaguena.

what's funny is that the guitar feed you're hearing is the live feed- meaning that's what's plugged directly into the board and that you can hear every imperfection, because there's no reverb or other sound from the band to muddle it. He is still perfect and absolutely killing it. RIP bro.

RIP Roy Clark. One of my PawPaw's favorites. He (my PawPaw) passed in 2015. Unfortunately I just got into Clark. I didn't realize what a master he was at the guitar because I was never into country music. But if you have not seen Roy Clark play on old t.v. show The Odd Couple, CHECK IT OUT. It is awesome.

Glen Campbell did t.v. show in the 70s where him and George Benson traded licks throughout the entire instrumental. Glen Campbell was doing 2 octave runs at amazing speed.when he was approached by a record company he told them he was a rocker and they said not with that twang in your voice your not. So he became a huge country singer and player. YT has a few videos of him playing instrumentals. Roy Clark instrumentals were the highlight of Saturday night for me as a kid because I hated the country music that was on all Saturday night.

Kevin Doran Eric Clapton couldn't hold a candle to Roy Clark. I grew up listening to Roy Clark, Glen Campbell, Buck Trent, and Buck Owens. Thank God my dad liked these musical heroes and exposed me to them. I always get a good feeling and a smile when I watch Roy Clark play. About a year ago I watched a Roy Clark special with Buck Trent and several others. Roy was losing his ability to play for some reason. Maybe arthritis with old age, not sure. Whatever it was it made me feel really bad for him. It was really sad to see him struggling with something he's played a million times and could play with one hand tied down. He will always be amazing to me.

Buck Trent, was *particularly* impressed when Roy, in the middle of his solo played the rhythmic noting/comping part starting at 1:04, as well no doubt we all were/are! I feel very bad for Roy as I saw a documentary on him from last year, finding how he is getting on these days, and it showed that he cannot play very well any more, and I could tell he misses being able to play with the dexterity that he shows here, I'm just pleased we all, and he, himself have this to watch in the future. Bless you Roy, a bona fide legend of this, (and many others) instrument.
