This video is doubly interesting to me because it starts as a typical sitcom, but when he starts playing it transcends anything the audience has ever seen or heard. When he finishes playing, the energy returns to a normal sitcom, canned laughter and commercial break. It feels like something from another dimension entered an ordinary room in the 70s and then left without a word.

I remember being maybe seven or eight years old watching hee haw and first listen to Roy Clark singing when I was young, that was the first time that a song made me cry. the man just had a natural talent to play any stringed instrument and a great speaking and singing voice to go along with it. he was a true entertainer! Thanks for the memories Roy RIP❤️

Roy Clark and his pal Glen Campbell, were the greatest guitarists ever and it's a shame that people who never followed them ever knew that or their capabilities. Roy and Glen had an agreement. Glen would never try to play this if Roy would never try to play the William Tell Overture. The immense talent that has left this earth is unbelievable.

And they were nice guys, and they liked people. The number of times I saw great musicians playing and Glenn or Roy were in the audience letting them have their moment in the limelight. I was struck with the contrast of videos that Les Paul did later in life, he didn't seem to be a nice guy. Talented but bof.

I couldn't agree more and it shows. They don't allow for any quality talent to make it. When the small independent labels got scarfed by the huge ones like Sony Music etc.. it became nearly impossible to get discovered. There is plenty of new talent hidden out there. Shitty.

dieselscience and we are looking at one of the very very best right here. he was also the king of flash which he enjoyed to no end just for the fun of it and usually sprinkled some around every performance for grins, like the slap thing here, which I have never heard anyone attempt on a 6 string.
