Toney trainer waited too long to instruct him between rounds to make it nasty on inside. That was his only chance, and u can tell from early on that Toney was having minor success but failed to sustain it. Woulda been cool to see a quick rematch with Toney in much better shape counter punching on inside after absorbing with tight defence.

Some people like the Pot-shotting style Jones made famous and Mayweather later perfected, but I have always found it boring to watch and honestly a cowardly way of competing-especially the level Mayweather took it to. I'll take a Hagler, Hearns, Holyfield, Tyson any day of the week over a fleet-footed, pillow-fisted boxer who makes a living avoiding the real competition and cherry-picking belts. That said I feel like Whitiker and Toney- guys who used defense as offense were great as well. Jones paid for his choices late in his career when his natural speed vanished and Mayweather got out before his completely vanished. neither guy ranks as high as those previously mentioned in my book, and they never will.
