To think I was only 7 years old when he passed. If one can take one thing from it he went out on the absolute top of his game, he was super popular again and he left us with an incredible album of new songs on brilliant memories like this.

In 1965, my friends and I went to Sydney Showgrounds and Roy opened for the Stones, well we come out of that show mesmerised by Roy because when you seen people on TV they would be invariably lip sinking, the thing we kept saying was he’s as good in real life as he was on the TV and radio. The Stones were great too.🎼♥️🇦🇺

How many singers be they Operatic,Blues or Pop can penetrate an audiences soul, not many from Lanza to Sinatra to Elvis to the Beatles ,the actual transcendental effect is far and few in between.Roy Oberson was one such genius with a vocal quality that could mesmerize an audience at will.his existential mind molding so to speak had his listeners at his mercy.Because coupled with true humility and charm and with a voice that seemed to come from a different galaxy, he always had his audience wanting more when he was done.

I remember listening to Roy Orbison at 13yrs. old (1956). He was just starting to record. At the time everyone was crazy about Elvis ; and rightly so. Even as a goofy kid I felt something different about Roys voice. No one sounded like him not even Elvis. I knew in my heart he was going to tear Rock and Roll up, He was truly the real King of Rock. Ive always loved his incomparable voice and songs. Who wrote or sang better?

I just don't know how long ! Some have relied on what they knew some said it WASall a dream... but did they rely on what they knew or were they just skoffing about what they thought they knew? But as for YOU.. now what rhymes with You....Ahh... now let me see? My favorite rhyme center ...Oh Yes ....EMMYLOU. !!! .I DO. I just can't lie about it...I DO ! I do.... DREAM ABOUT YOU... but how long must I dream??? Need to get on down the line, and GO... would that I could see YOU at least part of the time.... but how long must I dream? SWEET DREAMS BABY!!! It's ALL now just a beautiful dream... but till I see You, it just can't be true cuz then it never will come true.... I can't lie... that just won't do..... Every now and then there's a fool such as I am over YOU.
