At 2:42 the running back was Texas A&M's Farmer (last name),that was his 1st and only carry of the game.Roy put him out on one hit,if you watch the last of the play you can see him(Farmer) react to the pain.

Speak English, please. The value of a strong safety is in his ability to make open-field tackles, something I think Roy Williams, who played in the dominant conference, proved he was more than capable of, as he continues to do so in the league.

He's one of the best players at safety when stopping the run, and he's below average in coverage. The problem is the system has changed quite a bit lately and they've been asking him to do more coverage. When Darren Woodson was there he could creep up into the box and he was a pro bowl caliber player. Not as much anymore. Also, the reason that you haven't heard his name much this year is he's played very little due to breaking his arm, and then rebreaking it soon after he returned.

he is a hybrid blended between a lb and a ss
@Positepro02
@Positepro02 16 лет назад
You are right. Im a Cowboys fan too and he has became a big liability to us. Everybody knows when you need a big play to go deep down the middle and test Roy Williams. Nickel LB would be perfect for him.
@tenckaichi2
@tenckaichi2 17 лет назад
wasting? what the hell do you mean, he's been doing good as a safety. He is perfect for a safety position, he's probably one of the best ss player out there, and he was a safety when he was with the sooners. So that means the cowboys would have a good reason to put him as a safety.
@ohioplayer83
@ohioplayer83 16 лет назад
I can agree with you on some of those points. I remember them saying that he would get taken out in 3rd down situations cause offenses would single him out knowing he was the weak point. I think i posted that last comment prior to him breaking his arm though
@militar3rd
@militar3rd 16 лет назад
Was Rocky Marciano overrated when they said that he fights with his strength than with his mind? You really don't get the simile but that's ok. He is rated the way that he should be rated. He might have no coverage at all but if the receiver knows that Roy is where he would catch the ball, its just as good as a coverage safety because the receiver would hesitate and consequently not catch the ball.

they meant the field. roy williams was never a coverage safety. look where he is most of the time: helping out at the line of scrimmage. he's a run-support safety, not a coverage safety.

His game didn't change? Please explain to me how the secondary is any different in a 3-4 compared to a 4-3? I'll wait... I'm not expecting a response, so with that said, the front 7 scheme changed had nothing to do with his lackluster performance in the secondary. He lost his drive, that's what happened. And it's a damn shame, because he was my favorite player for several years.

Roy Williams is a bad son of a _____... Can't believe you would say Roy Williams isn't a true hitter... he's one of if not the most fierce dude in the NFL and damn sure was at Oklahoma. The point is he gets the job done, AND he will lay a Fn hit to anyone. BETTER than Sean Taylor

Hindsight is always 20-20. Roy looked like the next best safety since Ronnie Lott his first few years in the league. Besides, I think Reed is a bit overrated. In hingsight, I would've rather had Brian Westbrook who was picked in the 3rd round. Or perhaps James Harrison, who went undrafted in the 2002 draft.

Oh i get the simile alright. I like the Cowboys from way back when they had Deion but at the same time i won't be blind to the fact that offenses go right at him in a passing situation. Hell, i haven't even heard Roy's name during a game this year. He's an ok player that they tried to make into a superstar, which he's not
@SevOneDeu
@SevOneDeu 15 лет назад
You mean the game in Seattle, after he led the team down the field and inevitably dropped a slick ball as a holder, which has nothing to do with his ability to quarterback a team? If so, he's no longer the holder. Or the game versus the Giants, in which the Dallas O-line played absolutely atrociously in the 2nd half? No QB is going to succeed if only given a second or two to pass the ball. Not to mention, we completely abandoned the run after half time, so he had to do it all.

Here is a medical journal on the effect of head injuries in NFL football players... Also, you should already know this; but, the NFL did (finally) change the policy on concussions received by players. If you haven't noticed, now when a player receives a concussion, they can only return if Medical Doctors say they can play, this is different then previous years when players would return the next play. They changed this because of the large amount of former players suffering from diseases...cnt...

roy lost his game due to what i belive coaching changes and diffrent expectation from him. he is not a cover guy he is the guy who hammers and forces fumbles. with newman being one of the top corner roy should never stay deep like 20 yards. he should be clouse to line and knock people out! 2 late now cowboys released him. hopfully he find a good home and system that works with his game.

Most of those hits came from him playing close to the line in the box...the Cowboys need to use him like more of a linebacker than a safety...he can't cover and is always trailing WRs, thats why he always horsecollars.

Roy Williams is a decent tackler but is horrible in coverage, though at first he was decent at coverage, and usually safties are actually good cover guys, not to mention Roy Williams is only 27 so i wouldn't exactly say he's old. He's middle aged for NFL players, but not old.

Roy Williams is to Rocky Marciano as Darren Sharper is to Muhammad Ali... Get the simile? Roy overcompensates his lack of coverage speed by showing his presence in the secondary and that is a fact. Rocky overcompensate his lack of boxing skill due to brute strength and that is also a fact. At the end of the day, who has no loss in their record? That's right...

i have to say that he isnt the best because of his coverage...bute bdtoole05 has aleready said that the most ss arent good in coverage and theres a little diffrent between a ss and a fs not very much but a little...may he woul be better if he woul weight 50 pounds more and play as a olb but who knew
@EmceeNolan
@EmceeNolan 16 лет назад
Have you ever even WATCHED him? I think not. He misses almost every tackle he attempts...gets dragged/driven backwards on the ones he does manage to "make." He's an absolute non-factor around the line of scrimmage. He makes Pro Bowls because of his reputation from his early years.
@MerchantOfDeath223
@MerchantOfDeath223 15 лет назад
he didnt forget what made him good. the cowboys forgot. they tried to make him fill woodson's shoes. roy was a ss for a reason: he was killer on run support, big hits in the underneath routes & a good extra blitzer. the 'boys never took the time to find a competent FS to balance out Roy. As sad as it is to say it, the 'Boys failed Roy. Now they have Sensabaugh, so it's a slight improvement, but they don't have Roy anymore.

@igotsachubby says a guy that likes to make movies about his drunk friends, listen buddy if you think upperbody is only your head than you must have fallen on it when you were little. hits leading with the head and aiming for the head is illigal, so what you talking bout? i don;t think you know what you are talking about, i understand man. hey i respect that you are not so smart, you can;t do anything about it
