The Central Band of the Royal Air Force and the Queens Colour Squadron of the Royal Air Force Drill Show. Music: Eagle Squadron March, Holyrood March, Dambusters March, 633 Squadron March Military Tattoo 's-Hertogenbosch 2005
My Dad was in the Central Band of the RAF for 12 years. He died last Tuesday so it was good to watch this and remember all the events I watched him play at.
Many don't realize this, but this March is a salute to America! The Eagle Squadron March, was written in appreciation of the American volunteer fighter pilots in WWII, Known as the Eagle Squadrons, RAF. (squadrons 72, 121, 133)
My condolences on the loss of your father. Grief is universal, I'm an American, but I know for a fact that as time passes the sting of death will grow less and less. Hang on to the good memories, they help. I couldn't tell, those Enfields, were they No.4's or No.1's? The whole show was very impressive.
nothing beats the QCS and the continuity drill for shear perfection - unlike most other services here and abroad - absolutely no commands and still perfect
@NinjaNoobTurtle NO WAY!! What squadron are you at!? I'm at 93! Best ATC marching band in the country! I would love to be allowed to carry a banner with them!!
ended abruptly with 633 Sqn march.Very enjoyable, especially with them wearing different era uniforms.I bet they loved wearing the Hairy Mary battle dress.!!
Anyone else here think that Britain does the greatest drill in the world? Nobody pulls it off quite as well as the RAF. As close to drill perfection as one can get.
A great video & drill show-to think of as to how much training must have gone behind these drills,it is amazing.People feel secure &appreciate watching these shows periodically but tend to FORGET their SACRIFICES on battle fields Though we have come a long way in the art of warfare, what is the scenario of future warfare?- A ROBOTIC ONE?!This will drastically reduce human losses on battlefields.
The 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony should feature a performance by the Massed Bands of HM Armed Forces, featuring the Guards bands, the RM bands and the Central Band of the RAF.
@TehRicc This would be amazing, the perfect opening ceremony. Top it off with the Red Arrows! I do hope they include at least some of our military bands, they are just so brilliant, and would be a shame not to show them off.
What you missing is the big applause and the leaving with music. This viedeo sequence would be less then one minute and not enough for upload in a video.
@bigboredthing Oh I dunno, I think the Guards and HM Royal Marines are pretty good too. One thing we Americans have that the US hasn't, though, is the silent drilling.
RAF are the best in the world, followed by the Royal Marines and then the others..... The best is the QCS, The best in the world at this type of event... and more. R.I.S.E Above the rest.
@trombonedan1994 Thanks, check out "Royal British Legion Youth Band Brentwood". My band, just amateur and youth but Supreme National Champions since 92! There aren't many great videos up unfortunately
Hey - does anyone know what the song is that they first march out to? it was my march out song in the RAAF 18 years ago (still in!). We were told at the time that it was the "RAAF march' but I'm not too sure.
I hate it when these things are badly edited. The sound is out of sync...they're all on the wrong foot! Excellent display though...QCS def smartest unit in the UK.
great show but I think the headdresses of the band don't quite fit an air force that originated in the 20th century. They ought to wear caps similar to those of the drill team. Otherwise, well done!
The ATC drill isnt exactly the same as the RAF, and I've never in my 3 years in cadets been mistaken as RAF. I doubt a RAF WO will mistake us for one of his squadron lmao
