Welcome back to our channel thanks for watching and subscribing !! In this video we replace the stock 15 tooth front sprocket with a 16 tooth front sprocket. This is an easy mod on your Enfield 650 Interceptor or Continental GT 650. The results are at highway speed your engine will be running around 200-300 rpm less than with the stock 15t sprocket, this will, theoretically, enable a higher top speed. The gearing will feel taller so you may find yourself shifting less frequently as well. The downside to this is you will be a little slower in your acceleration. I would suggest this mod if most of your riding is above 40mph or 60kph. The 2 clips at the end illustrate the lower engine speed at 100kph. There was a bit of a headwind when I filmed the 16 tooth sprocket so engine speed had to be a bit higher to maintain 100kph. When the wind is equal the engine spins about 300rpm lower at 100kph. If you like our content please give it a big thumbs up!!

Do you viewers want to see some riding videos showing the areas that we live in?

What I really want to know is why your style of dress and the terrain look like San Diego, California, and you're in Canada!
@losttogether4ever

Ha Ha, Yes the summers are very much like southern California!! We've got Vineyards, farms and Orchards with temperatures hitting the mid 30C or 105F. You should come on up and explore!! Now the winters are a different story, I wish we were like San Diego come mid January!!

The first thing I ordered upon receiving my GT is a center stand. Part number from the Continental. Installs easily and simplifies rear end maintenance.

I'm thinking of putting one on too, just with the 2-1 exhaust the left side of the stand might look a bit odd.

I've fitted a 16 tooth cog conversion on my Interceptor 650 And Hitchcock's UK recommend 145 newton metres torque setting, Not as little as you say in your video, Also I had my son sit on the bike, And apply the rear brake, And I put a brick behind the rear wheel, Which did the trick 👍 Cheers Paul

Nicely done video, I would like to use a 42T or even bigger rear sprocket for doing quick launches and wheelies , do you know where i could get one? The stock 38T is just too small for my liking

I'm not sure probably worth sending an email to a couple of manufacturers.

Should you not adjust chain whilst off centre stand thus allowing suspension to compress also you should be sat on the bike.
@losttogether4ever
@losttogether4ever 7 месяцев назад
Yes, the manual states to check the slack on the side stand however in this video I'm adjusting the slack while it is on the paddock stand, the geometry of the swing arm is pretty close to the same with the weight of the bike on the rear spools causing the suspension to compress. I've never sat on the bike to check the chain slack, I guess you could but I've never heard of anyone doing it. Thanks for the input!!

great video, any Big Issues with EF. I've seen reviews they say over heating and electrical problems.. gave up my Harley getting to old and bike got to heavy, been thing on EF Int 650

Thanks for watching, I've had around 15 bikes over the years and the Enfield ranks in the top 3 in terms of reliability and ease of maintenance. There may have been issues with the older Royal Enfields but the new ones starting with the 650 twins are totally modern and very reliable. You can't go wrong with an Enfield. You'll love it!

Merci.

@@losttogether4ever Avec du retard ! Disons que tu as confirmé mes données. Sur la Meteor le pignon 16 dents a fait des merveilles: Meilleure accélération grâce au couple mieux exploité, changement de vitesses moins fréquents et allonge appréciable sur routes rapides.

What difference did it make to mileage? When riding at same speed with lesser rpm...
@losttogether4ever
@losttogether4ever Год назад
I haven't actually tracked the mileage yet. I would think it would be a bit better at speed and maybe a bit worse around town.
@rodrigorocha1268

Is the top speed increased or not? Mine is cutting the rotation in 190km/h, and I would appreciate it if it is working to you, so I can apply to mine...
@losttogether4ever
@losttogether4ever 6 месяцев назад
Yes the top speed is increased to about 195kmh depending on the wind conditions before the rev limiter activates and cuts the engine. The limiter is triggered by engine speed not actual road speed. Good Luck.
@notstevelam
@notstevelam Год назад
Don’t think it’s worth it tbh. Don’t really care about dropping a few hundred rpm when the bike isn’t even a high reving bike at highway speed anyway. I’d rather not lose even more acceleration on a heavy slow accelerating bike.
@losttogether4ever
@losttogether4ever Год назад
It depends on your riding style and where you ride, as I said most of my riding is on the highways averaging 100 kph, dropping the engine speed a bit makes it a bit more relaxed at speed.
@notstevelam
@notstevelam Год назад
@@losttogether4ever totally! although i do my fair share of highway riding and i'm just not imagining going from 5.5k to 5.2k makes any real difference in 'relaxed' or not. and im not willing to sacrifice acceleration for that. but thats just me!

Warranty Void 🤔
@losttogether4ever
@losttogether4ever 8 месяцев назад
NO the warranty is still valid, my dealer says that as long as I am not altering the ECU, or engine internals the warranty is valid, individual dealers may see this differently though. Most dealerships would do these mods for you at a cost and they wouldn't void the warranty, but check with your local dealer before doing any mods.
