I accidentally stumbled on this some years back, when I was about to shorten a British made Bullet cylinder barrel, but found out I didn't have to, for reasons seen and explained here!
I made a mandrel and shortened my Indian Bullet 500 barrel yesterday but stopped at 1mm removed as the landing around where the pushrods pass through looked to be getting a bit thin ?....Weird coincidence that this video is posted literally as I was doing the work...Best regards Stuart
G'day from Australia, Paul, thanks for the update on the different types of 500cc / 350cc English/ Indian heads, if you had to do a rebuild it wouldn't hurt to use either at a push, cheers mate Neil 🤠.
Paul I’m looking to rebuild my 61 trials Royal Enfield with British 350 Bullet engine with aluminium head and and low compression piston from Hitchcocks do you have any advise on best way to build this up.
Thank you Paul. I am wondering what would be the resulting compression ratio on 500 Indian Bullet with standard piston if the barrel height were reduced from its original 77 mm to 76 mm? Any idea?
Hi Neil. Not sure there are any as such, but many Indian barrels seem to be slightly taller between their gasket faces than their British counterparts, going by my experiences, at any rate.
