Like RJ says, the quality of the sound is more important than just making more noise. That sounds pretty good. Quality over quantity. I'd leave the baffling alone.
Excellent pipes. I'm from India and I notice that the single cylinders suffer severely with exhaust modifications (because of lesser back pressure) and some times result in engine failure or crankshaft failure. Please keep us posted.
Every winter and spring for the last 5 or so years I look at bikes and motorcycles but I really want this bike and want to purchase one. It seems affordable and a decent beginner bike. I’m not a big fan of the quick sporty bikes that sound like a blender running dry, and a Harley is too expensive at the moment. Those pipes are sweet, I also am starting to like that black and grey paint job over the white. Great vid, thanks.
Throttle Downunder If you’re still enjoying it that means it must be a good one, would you recommend this to a beginner? These seem very popular in the “EMEA” regions, I think it’d be cool to have a bike that’s kinda rare here in the US. How much did it cost for the pipes roughly?
@@Gardensandgrills412 these pipes were only a couple of hundred AUD. A great beginner bike, lite enough, not too much power, but more than enough that you won't be bored as your riding skills advance. There is also an S&S 875cc kit where you can Increase power if needed. Follow my friend Santina at "Revelry Racing", she has built a drag bike out of one.
I start this machine in the shop and I can not complain on the sound. I think the pot who follow the bike give a great sound, but is always what we want... personally I could like more the bike have a more modern front light, like Kawasaki scrambler and Ducati, and cockpit with more futures and led lights.
Lucky you that such exhausts are legal in AU (assuming that). Here in India aftermarket exhausts are illegal and RE bikes are the prime target to be issued fines.
That sound wicked . Don't want to rain on your parade , but have you seen the size of the fines that apply for disabling or removing pollution control equipment from vehicles in NSW ?
In this case though what you have removed is the restriction of the catalytic converters located in each original muffler. If you are worried about the difference 10kg makes to the performance of a street bike, better avoid eating large meals and drinking more than 4 scooners.
I love the color of your bike and nice idea for weight loss of your bike , women with weight issues should consult with this men 😂 , Drive safe enjoy your ride .
I went to the dealer at Nerang(Qld) to test ride a Continental with the expectation that i was going to be very impressed with this bike and i had the 'money' ready. The demo bike had cheap EMGO slash pipes on it which sounded good until i got out on to the open road but then became annoying and something you wouldn't want to live with. The good, Superb gearbox and clutch. Good handling. The bad - hard uncomfortable seat that you wouldn't want to be on for more than an hour (and not even the single seat that features in the advts. Dealer says this is an "extra". WTF) Clip ons don't give a good riding position and i'd want something more 'aggressive'. I came away feeling very underwhelmed and am now not considering buying. a bit like the Himalayan that I rode for 3 weeks in India. A good bike for india at the price that they pay, but here? No - just too underpowered and falling short in other areas. Couldn't ride an Interceptor. They were u/s out the back, having been crashed by demo riders.
G'day David, yes I agree with you about the pipes. I'll be making a new EMGO pipe review this week. Sound good but are way too loud on rides. After running them for a few weeks now I'm not happy at all.
Thumbs up but I wish you had moved the bike outdoors like the stock pipes. Question: Do you need to do a retune on fuel with the new set up. Even with baffles it sounds less restrictive. Sounded like a lot of backfire going on in the opening shot.
You mentioned that the stock pipes have catalytic converters in them. I assume those slash cuts don’t, but do you know if there’s a way to install the cat back in?
Looks like revelry Cycles have changed up their website. I could not find these pipes or any other. Could you possibly put a brand name or some other details to look up for these pipes elsewhere. Thank you
The pipes sound good 👍🏻. Did you have to make any adjustments to the EFI system due the reduced back pressure from the exhausts? Because usually for a carburettor you have to adjust the jets and the float etc.
🚦Nice video, thank you for sharing. I VERY curious about the fuel consumption⛽ after the fitted the new pipes. Please update us with the results. Love the idea of shaving 8 kg but not happy about loud noise 🙉
G'day Donald, I have no more info, I recommend you contact Revelry Cycles in Sydney Australia, and see where they got it from. Sorry I can't be any more helpful.
G'day back at ya. :) Here's what your shop said: "Those are EMGO 15" slash cut mufflers. We have to modify them to them to fit Australian exhaust systems. I don't know what the differences are with the US models. You should speak to a local shop."
@@ThrottleDownunder Thanks Rob for such a prompt response, is it the noise or emission which can get you in trouble? I see a lot of loud bikes and cars, which not sure comply with EPA. Any list where I can see what are the options available for exchaust. I can't really find any detailed information regarding this on google even unfortunately.
@@LayManSmart its noise that gets you reported. Your neighbour or a passing motorist can report you to EPA and you get a letter for a date where you get decibel tested. This period is often long enough to make appropriate changes "allegedly 😉". I don't know of a list I'm afraid. But I'm pretty sure if you change from stock you're deemed illegal. In saying that 90% of bikes in NSW are modded. I think if you aren't out there being an idiot you're pretty safe. I've been through RBT and other checks and no one ever given me a hard time on my Harley. If I was speeding dangerously of doing burnouts I'm sure they'd defect everything they could find.
These look like straight pipes without baffles. How is the low end torque with these, what about the exhaust valves, won't they get damaged with the free flow exhaust??
I bought the Interceptor last year in November, just waiting on these pipes to turn up from Revelry. Is there anything else I need to do with the installation? Re-programming etc? BTW love the bike and the video, cheers mate!
I don't want anything louder than the exhaust the bike came with but lighter would be welcome. It seems after market is always a bit louder (even in this case). Titanium would be a lot lighter than steel but way too expensive.
@@ThrottleDownunder i know it shake down low but over 2500 rom everything start toi smooth out...i love the regular firing order and its the classic... RE was supposed to stick with the 360 crank and prototype were build but they changed to 270 because it mimic the shallow angle v twin rumble (harley) so they thougth it would help sell more in the us fuck that i prefer the the TRUE twin sound =) ...i still want an interceptor nontheless lol
Hey Rob. Really amazing sound for the twin. I'm looking for similar type of mufflers for my GT. Please help me to get these to India. Any idea on how can I ship them to India. Also please mention what are all the other parts required for this muffler to fit in GT. Thanks. Happy Riding
There is no approval for this exhaust in Germany. Similar systems are available for purchase, but unfortunately they cannot be used on public roads. Laws too restrictive.
I think that mght have been the case with the older 500cc Single Cylinder bikes, but I believe these new 650cc Twin Cylinder bikes run very smooth. I've had no trpuble yet with my bike, and everyone I know that has the 650cc are loving them with very little problems
I wholeheartedly agree! The deep, mellow burble of the parallel twin is ruined with the slash-cuts imo. I think the originals sound great just as they are.
Hi really like what u done with exhaust i have gt 650 too. I am looking for w8 savings on my bike i see u have saved huge weight .I also would liike to put those on my bike.i did search for those n found they are emgo slash cut. Can u tell me after putting it do u face any issues with it like over heating or performance or engine issue after using it ? And i want to know How loud is it really from stock sound? Like if dont rev the engine in front of cops would i get away with it? Coz in india cops are on Aleart for noisy exhausts
