I could buy a Voge 300 Rally for the price of a CT and have change for a flight to Thailand and rent an apartment for a month, just saying, get a Voge 300 !
True to its name, it is designed for the Himalayan terrain. The engine is tuned for higher low end torque at the expense of a few horses. Which means it just keeps chugging even at the worst terrain without stopping. It’s an amazingly fun motorcycle to own and ride. You can do a lot of fun customisations on it yourselves unlike the fancy KTMs and others. And in the event of a break down , you can always rig it up somehow to get till the next remote Himalayan mountain village. I’ve had one for 3 years now and covered the length of the Himalayas through 4 countries over 6 months. I’m in love with this machine.
Trust me this bike has soul , she always keep trying her best in its toughest tests , never let's you down. Perfect bike for beginners to be a bike owner.
Honest- I started riding again at 55 with 25 years pause. I have tested several bigger bikes and stumbled across this little fella. I love my Himmy to pieces. It has for me a huge grin factor and the sound reminds me of my first bike - an XT 500. You can load huge amounts of stuff on this bike and it still is affordable. And - compared to other, bigger bikes - this one has charakter. Good review!
29 here and only been riding for about 7 months. The Himalayan 2019 is my first bike. Its the only bike out of every bike i looked at, that thought to myself "now thats a nice bike". Perfect learner bike. And as you said, has a lot of character.
Mi Himalayan me llevaba dónde fuera, y hablo de la topografía de Colombia que es bastante exigente. Por necesidad la tuve que vender, pero se que un día voy a comprar otra cuando la economía mejore. Es un tractor
To turn off the ABS you need to press it for exactly 5 seconds on a fresh start with the engine turned off. I can sometimes get it working on a running engine but more like 2/10 times. Always works on a fresh start for me!
For a 5000$ adv, it does surprisingly welll, yeah it is slow compared to other advs, but like the klr 650, it is a tractor, it will roll over everything, at its pace of course but it will out perform other adv bikes on the dirt for a fraction of the price, the Himalayan it’s simplicity done well
Thanks for sharing your examples of what the Himalayan can do. I have a 2022 model and love it. I've done some mud, water, and lots o dirt and gravel roads. But I'm too old to be jumping or doing single track anymore. The motorcycle is pretty incredible though and chugs on and on without complaint. And it's a beautiful looking motorcycle. At least to me. I looks great in my videos!
Finally a bike reviewer that knows how to have FUN! This review has everything I cared about knowing. I've got a proper motorbike license but so far have only been driving scooters in Bali for years, taking them up and down mountains, through rivers and beaches, and doing all the off-roading you are doing - as a long time c90 adventures fan, it's always baffled me about people believing you need huge bikes for adventure and fun. Been considering a bike for Australia and been learning towards the Grom or the Himalayan; so been wondering about wheelies, offroad, ABS, max speed, dropping and abuse, and fun factor.
I think Himalayan's best quality is it's torquey engine. It produces 32NM, whereas a Honda CRF250L produces only one less HP but 10 less NM of torque. My old Honda XL400V TransAlp's engine produces 36HP but only 27NM of torque. It needs that torque to move its mass of 199kg.
Great series! really enjoyed the videos. I used to own a Himalayan, sold it and after a few bikes I’ve ended up with a T7. It’s now for sale and I’m looking At Himalayan’s again 😂. Superb motorcycles
@@godfreytomlinson2282 it’s sold I’m looking for a himi however they’ve sky rocketed in price used. T7 was great and for a more skilled off road rider it’s probably epic, as a novice off road rider the himi is way better suited to me.
Awesome rides! You proven and tested the Himalayan. Very diversified motorcycle! You can bring it wherever you wanted to go! AWESOME DUAL ADVENTURE BIKE!
I got this exact bike same color and it's perfect. I looked at larger bikes and it's the weight that scares me. The Himalayan is heavy but not Soo heavy you can't pick it up. And will go everywhere I point it
I have a 2019 that I bought brand new and I absolutely love it. It has gotten me places that as a rider, I should not have had the skill to go. Cant wait to buy a Meteor.
Super post, a real bike for forest exploration. Looking forward to taking mine out very soon... Snow is melting😁 love your upbeat attitude and fun personality
I`m riding this bike for some time. Put on Mitas E-10 and I love it 😀 using it for some single trails and woods (just like in the video) also for the commute in city (have good mpg and easy to ride in traffic). One of the first reviews I`m watching where the bike is tested properly 😀 ....after some time I just bought one more bike for the ""fast tarmac driving" but just because it is hard to keep up with the buddies. 1cyl is 1cyl Yes for ABS you need to press that button and hold for 5sec and it will turn of. The button is terrible you can not feel anything by pressing it 😀
I have a KTM 1290 SAR myself so I have a fast road bike and to fast off-road bike in 1 lol. If I Only had a fast road bike , I would buy this for the offroad use and random cruising haha
@@LifeofSmokey I bought this as my first adv bike. I just love how it looks. I assume it is "you love it" or "you hate it" design 😀I like how easy it is to ride off road if you do not have the skills. This bike does not try to "kill you" while learning. Also I`m not the tallest person (1,76cm) so it is very comfortable for me.
I have a Land Rover and a 2023 REH, both the best off-road vehicles you can buy. They are two-wheeled Land Rovers, not fast, but who needs fast, 60mph is plenty on road and it will tackle any terrain that most won't be able to follow. God bless RE.
8:00 It can wheelie. You just need to bounce the bike down with your feet and clutch it up as it's bouncing back up. It took me a while to get the technique but it's easy now
I seriously and sincerely appreciate your pov & editing 1:34 ahaha sounds like Bollywood title...maybe a scorpion instead 5:48 I've already wrote you about this in previous videos...just keep it pressed (ABS button) for at least 5 sec. It's good thinking in case accidental switch off. 07:02 luv it 10:00 try to fill it up and do some fuel economy test on 100km during highway speed when it's in red (6k revs) 10:09 put some bigger/wider pad for a side leg. It's way to narrow and sharp for offroad bike. 11:03 what about that guard plate? was it dented? 12:15 just beautiful long strOKe
That little rock garden with a creek in the middle was a real test for this one. At 200kg think you can power through it sitting on the pegs, butt up but with a risk of damaging small parts. Cool video with all the melting snow and mini jumps. 👌
I know the creek and normally I would be standing up but in the middle there is a big drop risking myself getting thrown over my handlebars 😅. And the water on the right is 2meters deep so it's more scary as it looks. One mistake and the bike is gone haha
HEY BUDDY! LOVE FROM INDIA.. THE CEAT GRIP XL TYRE WHICH IS THE STOCK ONE ON HIMALAYAN IS THE BEST TRIED AND TESTED ONE. CHANGE IT TO OTHER BRAND ONCE DONE WITH WEAR AND TEAR.
Awesome review! I've been on the fence about getting one but I feel like my canadian army issue klr250 is basically better, it's lighter by 100lbs and has better suspension and It's basically the same hp but less torque. And cheaper .and has the military issue larger fuel tank . Shit it even can crack 130 km/h with the right wind.
Nice review and video. Love my 2020 Snow White Himalayan. My riding buddies and I found you're use of the terms "mountain" and "river" (to describe your bumpy little woods and tiny creeks) somewhat amusing, having ridden in Montana, Colorado, and Wyoming. 🤣
Superb review!!! I just wish it could go up to 140km/ on road, so 120km/h for long periods wouldn't be so pushing for it. Thanks a lot! I'm really planning on getting a license and then purchasing one for myself as first bike!
You can make it go faster with a bit of cash, If you get a TEC Cam, free flow exhaust, high flow air filter and a powertronic ecu. it will bump up to 30 hp, this will help you add a extra tooth sprocket that will give you higher cruising speeds at lower rpm and improved mileage. But you will have to do something with brakes, you can get ebc brake pads adds up extra bite but still not enough, and defintely not enough for added hp. OR you could wait for the new himalayan 450 that is gonna launch soon, again this has a lot of electronic upgrades and comes up with a liquid cooled engine making 40hp.
Read before buying I have Himalayan BS6. In the span of Two years I had to change 1) speedometer 2) Chain 3) Front Shocker oilseal 4) Handle bar Cone set and Now my bike is Down With 5) Engine HEAD AND VALVE PROBLEM! Can you imagine two years old bike with not more than 15000km Run worth 2.5 lac developed serious engine problem! I'd recommend not to waste 2.5/7 lac on buying garbage. Soon I'll shoot video in service centre about this problem and upload on different sites. Seriously regretting my decision to buy Himalayan. Will make others aware about the poor built quality of bike.
Great fun and imformative review, 2 years ago i was torn between a ktm 390 and a Himalayan, i chose the ktm, awsome bike on the road, but a princess to look after, and keep clean, so got rid and bought a old school trials bullet instead, SO much fun and i just can't explain why, not even to myself.
about the abs on my himalayan you have to press the button and hold it for 4 seconds and then release it... if I hold it for 3 seconds it won't work, 5 seconds won't work, I have to count exactly 4 seconds and then release the button... once I release the button in correct time the abs will blink and go off... it will blink after you release the button, not while you hold it
i have the 2020 Himalayan. It does not have the ABS off switch so i wired a piggy back fuse and a switch on the handlebar. Now i can switch the ABS off just on the fly. One big red switch and it's OFF instantly. The ABS light even comes on in the dash and I can flick the ABS back on just as quickly. In your case, you have to turn off the bike, and then switch it on when it is stationary and then hold down the button for 5 seconds i think... Just as easy to just pull the fuse when you reach your trail
Great review! Im considering buying one myself, and I have to say that ive watched alot of reviews on youtube, and yours is the one that actually makes me want to buy it. Thanks!
I also own a Himalayan and it's probably the best bike I have own,it's smooth and I love the riding position and also the suspension is really smooth..
Great video! When I look for a video about a certain bike, I want to see and hear the bike, not the owner talking and talking and talkin about stuff I´m not interested in. Thank you for really showing us the bike 🙂and for the interesting narration!
For the ABS just put a switch in series to the ABS fuse. Thants what i did. So you can turn off abs offroad. The sign tells you on the dash and you can switch it on during rinding and the abs light will go off again....
How is the reliabillity on these bikes? I have been looking at buying an offroad bike for a couple of years now but it hase to be cheap because i already have a Guzzi that i love
My ownership review Everything is good except these two things 1)high hot air hitting to your leg at lower speeds ( why don't RE use oil cooled engine) 2) low end torque is very bad, sometimes you have to be very quick in down shifting to avoid stalling.
I gotta get some air on mine. Just had it up the pole line for the first time. Yooo lmao when you say “big bike big bike” make me think about when i dropped it going up a heavy incline today lol.
