And here I am, watching this video from 7 years ago, Just before the launch of all new Himalayan 450. This bike, this video still makes me feel excited about the mighty old Himalayan. The design of the Console, that tank, rear end, the overall neat and simple design of this bike. Iam gonna miss it all✨
K have to say well done!!!!. This is the best review I have seen of this bike till date. You have covered up almost everything about this bike. Good job guy.
+Jim Tom Stimpson You have better bikes there. You have an established adventure tour motorcycle market, while this is the bike which is going to kickstart that segment in India
Thump, throaty feel, grips on fuel tank? And the rest never made sense...I am sorry sir, but what are you trying to tell...drop the adjectives and please if you have never ridden an adventure tourer bike or even a mountain bike...don't review it... Best thing that you can do is tell us 'kitna deti hai' or does it sport tubeless tyres. I apologise for my tone but the review is a waste. Fork damper adjustable? Tubeless? Power on steep gradient? Brakes? And you are telling me the console has a compass...who needs a freaking compass...I do like the bike (looks) and at under 1.7 it will be tons of fun...but please more info...or simply how you felt during the ride...thanks.
Hello, I would really like to get a good answer on this. I live in Kolkata and and need to travel long distances before I get close to any biking trails in the himalayas. Then why should I buy Himalayan I can easily hire it from cities like Delhi?? (which would be cheaper and comfortable than dragging it from my hometown)
To make more sense kindly do a review on tarmac in city and highway conditions. More interest in agility, turning radius, gear shifts in traffic, heating, vibrations and acceleration is important, coz we not going off road in cooler temperature every time. Also let us know is it a better option over classic 350 and Thunderbird 350 when it come to city riding and maintenance.
I got the Delivery of Royal Enfield Himalayan Snow white colour today evening,The gear box had a serious issue and the gears got stuck in some gear which constantly shifted out of gear upon trying to engage the gear just barely 7 kms from the showroom .I took the delivery from North Delhi Motors Shalimar bagh.I had this problem at Netaji subhash place and I was literally stuck on the main road with bike constantly moving out of gears and the dials showing a dash instead of the gear number. I called up people at the show room at around 7:30pm,and by 7:50 two guys from the showroom had come to see what was the problem. After Half an hour of ordeal and looking at the things that the guys were best at doing -"ANALYSING ",To my horror I was told to take the bike and go home with this serious problem. The manager of the workshop had been called and it was his suggestion that I somehow take the bike home and that someone will pick the bike in the morning. Let me ask few things from you guys at Royal Enfield:-1.Things like this are unacceptable from a bike of 1.85 lakhs although its a machine and in rarity these things might happen to anyone. 2.Even if someone gets into a problem ,the very first hour of owning the bike-How can someone ask to take it and go home. 3.Why a proper roadside assistance was not given with someone from the technical team of the workshop? 4.Who is to be held responsible for the faulty gear box and who takes the responsibility of this bike which broke all the high hopes that I had with this bike. 5.Shameful that no one ever called me up to discuss what was my take and that will I be able to drive it home where the distance to my home from the point where the bike broke down was more than that towards the showroom. 6.Pity that you guys are aiming skies where the harsher ground realities still will haunt you .Because the excitement and elation to own a royal enfield today turned into the worst kind of pain that I have gone through tonight, besides the agony and disgust that I felt when people asked me what is wrong with this new bike.Besides all the laurels I have been spreading for this bike I think I should rather warn possible customers from buying this unpolished Himalayan. Let me ask you How will it survive The Real Himalayas???? How will you provide assistance to remote or even states outside delhi when nobody cared or got bothered that a customer is stuck in the middle of the road and the best thing for him is to take it with a pinch of salt and go home and sleep ,for his dreams have just shattered!!!
In normal traffic heat temperature goes up to 48 ℃..which is absolutely unbearable and gives the feeling that your leg's inner side near knees is burning severely.. Showroom guy suggested me to install plane plates near engine to avoid heat reaching your leg's but I don't think it will work. As per off roading is considered there is no match for this bike in indian market. REMEMBER : HEATING IN HIMALAYAN IS SEVERE AND IT CAN MAKE YOUR RIDE IN CITY TRAFFIC A HELL...
+Biker Bob Hey, thanks, glad to hear you liked my review. As of now Royal Enfield doesn't seem to have any immediate plans of exporting the Himalayan to the European market. Hopefully they should do that in the near future.
Royal Enfield should introduce ABS, a bigger engine and traction control in the next update. And most importantly, make sure that their motorcycles are more reliable and better built . And for those of you telling that the above additions would increase the price; Adventure Touring is a niche market, having very few takers. So why not give the best for them? All said and done, we don't mind spending 50K more for safety and performance.
hi Zigwheels! I wanna buy a bike but I am totally confused. Currently own a Pulsar 220 which is 5 years old but just 39000 km (approx) completed on it. I majorly ride within Chandigarh tricity but love to travel long distances (350km on side at the max). Should I go for Avenger 220 Street or any other bike that u may recommend within 1 lakh???
+ZigWheels ... just one question? Smoke from the exhaust muffler? Whats the reason? :( I hope the Himalayan doesnt suffer from the same engine problems as the previous iterations of the engines. Hope the piston rings are high performance. Please enlighten me. Thank You
+Vimal Raju bro ..I have done a few high altitude trips myself... not to mention that it was on a Thunderbird... that doesn't look normal... hence my question. anyway. waiting for an official reply from zigwheels.
Well...if we meet in person, I'm gonna give you a 'same pinch' .... However let's wait for the word from Zigwheel themselves cos they were the ones who actually been there....
will it suits obese men or women who wants to tour as well I sat on it and ride it felt comfortable with it still can you do a review using a obese guy and don't recommend me classic cuz my leg touches the handle cuz I'm 6.4 feet hieght
Hey.. I see everyone says its good... but the tests are mud, bad terrain, rain.. which is mostly in good and low temperatures. How does it handle the 40+ degrees the summer offers us these days. Why doesnt anybody say anything about it.
+Janmenjay Mohapatra Unfortunately, those were the only conditions we got to test the Himalayan. We're waiting for Royal Enfield to give us the Himalayan again to be tested in regular city conditions, as you have mentioned. We're equally keen to know how the motorcycle performs and will certainly let you know soon.
I tested the Himalayan in the actual Himalayas, 1200km, 3 days, ladakh and Kashmir. I made a video review about it, by the way it was summer and the max temperature was around 30 degrees.
+Shyam Prasad Reddy Mora thanks for pointing out; however that was a typo. And btw, it was not addressed to you, Reddy garu. So please keep out. Thank you.
I have taken my gixxer sf on worse dirt tracks than this. If you want to give a professional test, then why not take it to an offroad test track instead? there are quite a few in TN where the bike is from.
+rajaram padhi .The shooting was in Shimla (7234 ft above sea level) thus atm pressure is low. At these heights and above, vehicle exhaust gas is hot enough to evaporate water vapour in the air at the exhaust tip (Check PT graph of water vapour, evaporation temperature decreases with decrease in pressure). But the steam is unsaturated, which makes it easier to see with naked eye
+Oinam Anand Bro,I was trying to give a good explanation for a possible reason, that's it. If you have a better explanation, comment it and let us know about it. Don't be argumentative. BTW I'm busy with my masters in IIT Bombay, will come to your school when you start your schooling.
+rajaram padhi Thats coz it is carburated and not tuned, its burning a mixture of more fuel and less air, hence, the smoke, its not vapor, for an exhaust to emit so much vapor the engine needs to be filled with water in which case it will just stall
test rode it today. feel a bit let down. overhyped. build quality is still crap. brand new display bike has dents in the silencer and also wiring is exposed in quite a few places
+truestar1995 True, KTM is King in dual sport, it even beats BMW, their 200cc Adventure will be better than this 400cc, 390cc Adventure will have no match for its price
gilpi 13 they are not rumors, KTM has been planning their release since 2013, they got delayed due to the european emission norms got updated, KTM CEO Stefan Pierer has already made a statement for them back in April 2013, they have been imported in India for testing as well, check the following, www.revzilla.com/common-tread/the-ktm-390-adventure-is-coming www.motoroids.com/news/ktm-390-adventure-imported-to-india-for-rd-purpose/ Only a fanboy will buy Himalayan rather than waiting for KTM, it is better to be late than sorry
Don't belive royal Enfield because they are not what they claim. I am a unhappy owner of Himalayan. This bike is one of worse bike I owned in my life. Services are worse, parts are not available easily. The service center people are not trained to fix the bike to the perfect condition. Don't buy this crap insted go for some good brand with best services around the country.
Idiotic motorcycle. It was not falling into any gear properly that too brand new bike and the sales fellow an ignorant chap was trying to convince me that its not happening because the flywheel is a big one. My friends triumph shifts like butter with a flywheel 3times its size. Cheap parts, funny looks etc etc list goes on..Waiting for the guys at KTM to show them what a real dual purpose is all about.
