These are the stands you mentioned you made for them, right? I can't recall if i told you, but I've already owned a pair of Minstrels previously, currently own a pair that I just bought a few weeks ago, and I'm going to pick up a pair of Minstrel SE's on Wednesday. These things are just so great at making music, I just don't see how it can really get much enjoyable. Yes, I've had cleaner sounding speakers (my Epos M12.2s were clearer in the mids than these, for example), but very rarely anything that makes music like the Royds.
