You can find the workshop here - www.storytellingcollective.com The next course starts in a couple day from November 1st, but they do run several times a year. If you have already taken the course, link your scenarios below, and tell us all about your experiences, and if you plan to keep writing!

$35 is a good deal for what you get.

I was researching how to flesh out the ideas I had for a Call of Cthulhu scenario, and this video is great, but now I am looking to take the writer’s course!

Great video! I also completed the RPG Writer Workshop this summer and many of my observations match yours. I had an original scenario I had planned to run that month with two groups already. I wanted to follow the course framework to publish the idea. I am sure some of the workshop tools would be helpful in fleshing out ideas that were not well-formed. I only used them when I thought they could help. In many cases, I chose not to distract myself and did not spend words in the tools. The most valuable tool was the adventure template, which I used as a kind of fill-in-the-blank exercise to be sure I didn't miss anything. Then I looked at Paul Fricker's advice and saw four or five things not in the template. And then I looked at some other published scenarios and found still more things to add. And then I had my own ideas about what would make the scenario easier for a Keeper to run. And on and on. It is true that the Discord is welcoming and it helps you not feel alone as you grind your own project. It was great for moral support. As with many things, I think the work expands to fill the time available. Having the hard deadline gave me a goal to work toward and a definitive stopping point. I liked not having the project linger and just being done with it. My scenario, "Convalescence," takes place in the 1920s at a quiet country clinic near Dublin. A well thought out and balanced review. I'm glad that you found the course beneficial. As you say, different people are going find use in different parts of the course, and not everything is going to suit all learners. 2 scenarios out of 5 people actually sounds like a pretty good hit rate to me! Hopefully the other 3 got something positive out of the course too.

Thanks, the course was definitely eye opening for some of them, and showing them how the sausage is made defnitely stoked their fires. All of them are deterimined to put something out in time!

I'm going to take the course this year and I found your channel while doing some research on writing my own scenarios. Very informative and helpful, thank you.

I’ve been thinking about doing this course, but the system agnostic version as CoC isn’t my favorite rules set even though do I love Mythos. Good video, thanks for the breakdown.

I'm about to start the November Call of Cthulhu workshop and have been wondering about the collections. I'm assuming these were opt-in if you want, correct? Do you get a cut of any sales from the collection product?

If you manage to finish and upload to Drivethru by their deadline, they will include it, if you wish. the date and details are given on the course. The bundle works the same as others on Drivethru, you get the whole value of your items in the bundle, as does everyone else. The course doesn't take a cut at all.

@@RPGNook Aha, got it. Thanks for the reply. Looking forward to checking out the course. Price seems more than worth it for guidance through a process of that length.

That alpaca in the sheep field scenario looks well good!

I’ve been strongly considering doing this. Hopefully it’s evolved enough from the initial offering a couple of years ago to be worthwhile now that more experienced folks are involved. Do you think the Discord stays active enough after the initial month that someone who has much more available time in (say) December would still get lots out of it, assuming they have less free time to tackle this during November?
@RPGNook

Yes, its active even now with people that completed it in summer. There are a lot of courses running besides this one too, so always new people coming into the mix
