Seen several reviews but this is it, THE REVIEW...most people are after sales hence they do poor research and the output/content ends up not effective projected Keep up the good work👍🏽
For the RS3 Mini, if you're looking for added stabilization while it's stationary, consider the DJI Ronin-S/SC Extended Grip/Tripod. It's nearly twice the size of the tripod included in the box.
GREAT CHANNEL WITH AMAZING INFO IM SURPRISES YOU DONT HAVE MORE SUBCRIBERS BUT I SUB TO YOURE CHANNEL AND HIT ALL NOTIFICATIONS YOU EXPLAIN EVERYTHING AND ANSWER ALL MY QUESTIONS GREAT JOB BOSS
For traveling, the RS3 Mini is perfect. Not just because of the weight and the size, but the smaller the gimbal, the less you stand out in areas with lots of people. It can be pretty annoying when everyone stares because you're carrying a giant gimbal. And as long as the thing can carry a 24-70, it's all good.
Thanks for this comparison. It's just what I needed. Totally hyped about getting the RS3 Mini. For the same stabilization technology, I'd go for the lower payload, portability and lower price.
I've always heard of how good is an RS gimbal but I always thought Im not on that level yet of getting pro equipment. Now the RS3 Mini is definitely a great option for me since it's more of a daily gimbal for practical use.
Yeah, it feels like buying a gimbal used to be more of a major purchase. But this thing is so cheap, but also so nice that really it's an easy decision, unless you have a super heavy setup.
Loved this review. So much better than a lot of the other reviews I watched. I wish the mini had a little more "umph" to it in comparison to the RS3 but it seems pretty good for what it is. I hope there's some kind of "sling" where I can attach a strap to the RS3 to carry outside of my bag? Idk if that's a possibility.
Excellent review and just what I needed. Need active track for solo shooting. Really wish it worked with mini, but they’re probably saving that for rs4
I watched hundreds of gimbal videos on yt over the years… this one is among the Top 3… especially love your attention to detail and practicability, like the bag stow away tips 👌🏼 Subscribed!
I bought the Mini and wish I had just put the cost toward the Pro. I started with the original Ronin S and liked the idea of a smaller, less attention grabbing gimbal. But I have to take off my battery grip and cage off my Canon R5 which is a bit of a pain. The mini works fine with smaller body and a prime, like a 50mm or 24mm etc. But it feels awkward with the 24-70mm zoom which is starting to max out the weight. And I can't even think about using the RF 70-200mm for the rare occasion I would need that zoom level. At least with the Pro you have more options if needed. Even if it's 50% more mass it's not gigantic in comparison. Might return the Mini for the Pro.
@@carscameras6363 The commenter is talking about the RS3 Mini, but now is wishing he bought the “pro”; but there is also the “RS3”, which is in between the “RS3 Mini” and the “RS3 Pro”. The Pro is not shown in this video, and is a bit more expensive than the standard “RS3”.
I shoot indian weddings for like 15-17 hours a day. The nice thing with the rs3 is that the removable battery is like a quick release. You can mount it to a tripod with an already mounted battery easy
Nice job man. I was tapping at the subscriber count to see why there wasn't a "k" after 700. Keep this up and there will be! Best of luck with the channel.
He rushes over the importance of having an external battery, for me it is the most important factor. I had a DJI Osmo Mobile 2 with integrated battery and battery is now faulty, so the entire gimbal will end up in the landfill.
This is a great review! I'm using an A7siii but I'm not doing professional gimbal work. The Mini might be a great gimbal for travel. I was able to review the Moza Aircross S. Used it with the A7siii and the Tamron 20-40mm. But that couldn't handle a 24-70 unfortunately.
I think using the Mini with an A7Siii is RIGHT UP AGAINST the limit - well, with the 24-70 or similar weight lens.. I think it's better suited for the little APSC camera/lens combos. But depending on ones needs - you can squeeze professional video out of an a6600 for instance, in the day time or with great lighting!
Yeah, having that thing stay balanced and auto lock is pretty sweet. For me it was RavenEye and heavy lenses. Shooting with a stabilized 70-200 is surreal!
Why was someone able to use active tracking on the DJI RS3 mini: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MoKLbSq7quY.html Its a very important feature im considering pls help if this isnt true 😢
Interesting! At 10:54 of that video, he has text on the screen that says “this does not work with Sony cameras.” I guess that’s why I didn’t see it. If you have a Panasonic camera, I guess you’re in business? That’s the first time I’ve heard that.
Just started using the Mini with a Sony A7 IV and 16-35 F4 PZ G and the gimbal is handling the payload very well. Must say that it's not "that mini" when you need to pack everything into a backpack for trekking, but sure... it's smaller than the R3, i'll find a decent packing strategy for this boy.
wow! This is literally the setup I have currently and was wondering what it was like on the mini. How is it holding up now? Any further feedback since your last comment?
@@ZabsAntsTravels I find the A7 IV + 16/35 F4 to be a good travel vlog compromise. Used for some time on the RS3 Mini and it holds well IMO. It's not an action cam though so for long travels/trekkings may be a little cumbersome. If you are interested i recently published a video about the RS3 Mini and the A7 IV on wideangle lens. It's italian spoken but the automatic subtitle translator should suffice to uderstand the mood.
Only on the RS3 Pro though. You don't get the transmission screen on the non pro version that I have. Raveneye is required, thankfully I already have it.
Please DJI...add baked-in Active Tracking to the Ronin series. Raveneye is such an additional hassle to add to the initial hassle of gimbal setup/balancing.
Can the mini handle a Sony a 7cii + 70-200mm f2.8 gm. That Combo is under 2kg (1,7 kg). So theoretically the mini is stated for 2 kg, but i am not sure if it can handle the completely off center of Gravity. Or should it get the Job done if it is well centered as there is no zooming out and in of the lens itselfe?
@@claudemolitor1685 I actually did a more recent video with that exact lens! You can absolutely mount it on there. There’s a little bit of limited movement because it’ll knock against the back of the gimbal but check it out! The 70-200mm starts at 6:59 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YKbUAx-Qbmk.html
Very well review👍 not the typical influencer stuff were everything is just awesome. Not sure if I did get this right, the GM 24-70 seems pretty much limited? If you can’t face the camera downwards it’s quite tough from DJI so claim it’s compatible. It’s more like 60% compatible, isn’t it? Ideally you have one lens for traveling that fits all. This combo doesn’t seem to be the best then…
You can’t face a 24-70 downward when you’ve balanced it at 24 and you zoom it out to 70. If you have it at 24mm you can use it as expected. But yeah, zoom lenses with gimbals has always been a challenge; the weight distribution changes A LOT when you zoom way out. That glass in the front if heavy.
can totally relate with the upper body workout using the regular gimbal all day! I can do without the raven eye and would prefer the lightweight convenience from the RS3 Mini for long outdoor filming.
Right!? When I started out on Day 3 of CES I was pretty much toast since I only really switched between the 24-70, heavy, and 70-200, also heavy, that whole week.. Almost makes me want to settle for APSC kit. almost.
Great Comparison, thx Nicholas, this gives me some perspective as I was confused between this two models; u also mention about “Brandon Li” mapping the record button to manual focus. Can u pls give the link of that video ?
Here’s the link to Brandon’s video; that part starts a little after the 8 minute mark. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X_MN0R5LBxQ.htmlsi=hKtVtJPfhfEBmXcx
I just bought the rs3 mini and I love it but the grip is just a little too small for my hand 😤😤😤the top and bottom of my fingers dig into the metal and it hurts.
Hii sir I am from India can I use zoom prime lens like 135mm 1.8 gm ...will it able to stabilize the video..and can it take the load of sony A9 with 135 gm ?
I do Motorcycles and Automotive stuff. Should I wait a little longer and get the RS3 or the mini will do the work as well ? I am also considering travelling with it. It'll be really great if i gey this answered 😊 thanks in advance ❤
If I Knew DJI gonna release the MINI version, I would rather buy RS PRO than RS3 (which I use now), and Buy another the MINI version to Cover All my Usage. But for now, If I don't Shoot in Easy VLOG Style that much, the RS3 version Still Good to me.
I get you get Bounce. But does it reduce bounce. Im going to be doing doing something that Im going to have to bounce a little. Or is gimbles just a waste at that point. I ll be using it on Lumix S52X
@@NicholasJamesJohnson I talking about up and down movement of your body. I bounce hard when I walk. Just how Im built. I do not have the Ninja steps down. But trying.
on a boat that autolock is very crucial coz u dont have time to adjust n unlock so many thanks in bouncing condition of the boat, thanks for making it clear which one to pick
I would go with the Mini. In fact, I just made a video about RS3 Mini With Big Lenses and Full Frame Cameras ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YKbUAx-Qbmk.html
I've been looking for videos that shows how to balance a 70-200 like you did and none show it including you. How did you balance it? Were you able to balance it properly just by doing the autotune?
I mounted it on the lens plate rather than the camera plate, and then just balanced like normal! You obviously can’t balance it looking straight up, but I didn’t need to dis thing special and it worked. After autotune it was basically like using any other lens.
@@NicholasJamesJohnson Looking at the video, it doesn't look like you have it on the lens plate at all, it looks like you used the mount under the camera. When you say lens plate do you mean that you mounted the lens on the gimbal?
@@errolikalina1998 I just looked again and paused to confirm, but if you look at 9:47 you can see the gimbal is connected to the lens itself - that's PRETTY close to the balancing point because of all the glass in front of it.
Great review it is a hard decision as I dont have a gimbal and this will be first time buy, question.? If you could buy a NEW DJI RSC2Pro for less than the RS3 Mini, which would you feel would be a better gimbal, the newer tech and stabilization that much better on the new RS3, I shoot with a R7 with cage and like the 24-70lens, so im concerned the RS3 mini could struggle.
Yeah, the RSC2 has much stronger motors than the RS3 Mini and its stabilization is also exceptionally good. I think I would get the bigger gimbal so there would be no concern about bigger zoom lenses like that. The mini is really best for APSC lenses in my opinion.
My shoulders became boulders hauling around my RS2 with big stereo mic and FX and 24-70 and handles. Interested in the mini bigtime. Crane M3 is short bus tier.
Loved this video. I am still deciding which gimbal to buy but you sir, have turned on the afterburners... Lol. The scale tipped hard towards the RS3 😂 Oh and loved your speaking style. I subbed!
Great review. Thank you for mentioning all the downsides of the mini compared to the rs3. I've watched lots of others youtubers and all they do is read the manual and praise the mini and not mention the trade-off. Great review.
Thanks for the video, unlike Brandon Li's work who I like and respected, you point out the condition in a simple real world demonstration in which the "mini" failed. Other RU-vidr just simply sings the mini's praises. Yes I'd understand one can make the mini work, but none so far that demonstrate it's shortcoming. I bought my RS3 2 days before watching your video and I'm glad I did. I made a mistake buying the Zhiyun Crane M3, and I couldn't use 60% of my lenses and try to rectify the situation. If I had bought the "mini", it would have some of the same problems as well. Albeit the "mini" seemed much stronger. Thanks again. Keep up the good work!
Thanks, Victor! And yeah, obviously everyone is out and using it - and it would seem that theyre all testing the 24-70 with it.. Theres no way none of them managed to simply tilt down to find this out.. Glad I could confirm your choice for the bigger one! Im going to keep the RS3 as well and give back the mini. With a tiny camera, its a dream, though - SO light
Did you ever try to vertical by using a7iv cage with RS3. I think it can't be used it's seem like we need to purchase vertical mount to take a vertical vdo. Can you show me please.
Admittedly I didnt try mounting the a7iv vertical with a cage, but I cant imagine why it wouldnt work... Im actually up in NYC right now for a production thing, but Ive got a gimbal AND an A7iv with me, and the a7iv has a cage, so I will try mounting it tonight and comment back my findings.
Lock on focus will make sure the subject stays in focus, but raven eye can actually turn the gimbal, you need both. Like, you could put the gimbal on a tripod and raven eye would make it so it could turn 360° around to make sure it keeps the subject in frame.
So torn - love the portability and smaller size of the mini, but worried about putting my A7IV + 24-70 on it. I know it should be able to handle it, but I still feel uneasy about it.
It's a valid concern. It CAN hold it, but if you do any moves where the camera needs to tilt way forward with that lens on, or if you want to zoom out to 70 when you balanced it somewhere in the middle.. you might be better off with the bigger RS3
Thanks! That is the "48 Hour Tin Cloth Duffle Bag" by Filson. It's kind of expensive but it's a life-long purchase! They will literally mend it, patch it, fix it for you for free for life.. Great company.
